Description
So for this week's Alien-based Face/Off group challenge, I thought I would take a classic alien character and give it a more modern upgrade. I took inspiration from the 1955 classic 'This Island Earth' to recreate one of the Mutants from the planet Metaluna.Created and rendered in pencil.

In short, I think it's a good way to make a very silly monster look closer to its original idea. This mutant really looks more muscular like it is supposed to be and those dark, empty eyes scream of oppressed madness.

Sci-fi movies from the 40s, 50s and 60s are chockfull of great monster ideas. Their special effects were limited as were their budgets, but I'm willing to bet the original concept art for most of them was probably awesome.
