Now unlike sparklefag Eddie, THIS is what a vampire is supposed to look like. Reminds me of the good old days when vampires were still cool instead of the subject of countless fag-assed "dark romance" novels that flood the "fantasy"-shelves nowadays.

A side note: Vlad III is scarcely related to Dracula at all if only by surname association and inspiration. Draculea is the aforementioned surname which given by his father (of course) who, in turn, received it from his subjects because he was in the Order of the Dragon which brings me to my next subject. Dracul is derived from the Latin for dragon which is draco (though I do know that the Romanian word for devil is dracul.)
Apart from such relations, Vlad III was given the moniker Tepes upon his death because of the crimes he committed which can very well be described much more gruesome (as it is by no means a fairy-tale) and very well committed. If I do say so myself, commanding enemies to be piked (weather it was through the anal cavity, midsection etc.) is quite hellish compared to draining the body of it's blood and leaving it there (as is typical of most vampire stories.)
As well, I do know that his rule in Romania was a very lovely one for the country since he had been in reign a total of three times (someone must have liked him I would say. Don't you agree?) as well he had a just manner during his rule.
My belief toward the usage of the prince's name and image in the book is that it was spawned by the German re-tellings and fables of his life (of which none were too kind) and the fact that they over-exaggerated the methods he used to torture his enemies as well as Matthias Corvinus who cased his bad reputation for purely political reasons. On the other hand, Stoker's obsession with his own imagings caused him to over-look the history behind the man he drew inspiration from, further drawing him into a worse light than that of the previously mentioned.
To conclude my side note (rant,) Vladimir III Tepes =/= Dracula.
To the author: All in all, an excellent work. I must say I believe I am missing color somewhere... the texture of it hints at red but I am uncertain... (Please forgive me. I happen to be completely colorblind and have recently been deciphering color by it's texture/feel.) Then again, (I took a moment to scroll up) judging on what I assume to be blood around the women's mouths, I will indeed say so. Thank you for sharing the image and I do hope my historical rant wasn't too imposing or judgmental. I simply just despise historical inaccuracy.
Again, thank you for the time you took to create this piece.
Sincerely,
Vale

Vlad Dracul was Vlad Tepes Father, Dracul meant Dragon, as he was in the Oder of the Dragon, Dracula means Son of the Dragon.
I'm fully aware of the historical facts of the man who has become known as Dracula, and agree that his acts of brutality are in many ways more shocking then anything in the fictional novels that feature him, despite this, he is kind of a Robin Hood figure to the people of Romania who see him, quite rightly in many ways, as a true patriot.
As for his rule being a lovely one? Who knows, it's difficult to say, they certainly didn't vote him into office though remember, it wasn't a democracy.
That all said, I enjoy the myth of Dracula and Vampires in general, and I enjoy history too.

Indeed and I had not intended to imply that you have been misinformed or are uneducated etc. I had merely written that for those who do not understand the true relation between Vlad and Dracula (there happen to be quite a few people who believe they are the same person.)
My reason for stating his rule to be a good one is relating to the old Russian stories about him I have read. He is not exactly depicted as extraordinarily wonderful, but his good side was shown.
As it is, with the majority of rulers believed to be bad by some countries (namely America,) they will be considered good to others but no one in this wretched country will ever retain such an open mind as to see that Hitler's values were extraordinary, Vlad's war tactics were quite clever and Stalin had turned Russia into a powerful country in a matter of a few years.
With that out of the way, I enjoy the myths as well which is why I took so greatly to the book The Historian. If you have not read it, I would recommend you do ^^ (though it is not a cheap book. I purchased mine for half off at $25.)

Amazing work! I think vampires are cool and you did an awesome job depicting them. The colors, the look on their faces and the bats in the background are the things I like the most about this piece.
As for the legend..he he...I'm from Romania and I'm telling you, Vlad was a good, just ruler. He was cruel only to people who deserved it, such as thieves or his enemies on the battlefield. So if you were a good man, there was no reason to fear him. Yet, people exaggerated a lot and made him look like a bloodsucking monster...imagination has no limits, huh?

Vlad Dracula? Oh, he was a very good historical personage! Right guy. To the words "In my time vampires..." I laugh: Haha! By the way, I read, that he and his brother were prisoners of turkish sultan. So, Vlad's brother was the official lover of sultan. What did this vampire suck in his young age?.. It's unknown

Hahahahha I didn't knew that. And i AM a big fan of vampires and Vlad. I read the original Bram Stoker book too. It was fascinating.
Ahh well.. The romans kept a few boys around just for fun. It used to be average that every higher Roman had a girlboy by his side Good times

It was just a relaxation for Romans. But Spartans were much more cool in this question, they had it as a basis of their life. Spartan warriors loved each other.
