They're actually original characters who are around 15 years older than The Nut Job.

I really like your work and was wondering if you had any interest in turning them (some) into greeting cards ...

Nice colors, is it painted? Because if it is, your painting style gives it a nice 3-D effect.

I love your fur, I love your shading, and of course I love Cory! He looks a little naughty here. I think it's the eyes.
I just have a little problem with Jerome's quiff. It looks like it's on fire. It's probably the feather effect but I think you made it a little too transparent near the edges. Then again it might just be me.
apart from that though I applaud your awesome-ness once again!

You have such a way with making me smile before the image even has time to load. I just adore these three so much. They are familiar but never cease to amaze me. Each personality shines through just perfectly. I love this image because it's so true to the characters and yourself. And god, the colors are flawless. I can't get over how 3D the 2D looks! How do you do it?! Fantastic piece, Andrew.

I only used the Conte brush and Blender. For some other pieces, I subtitute the Conte brush for the Acrylic brush.

That is the cool! ^_^ Man, I can't get down how good you make your characters so cartoony. The texture you used in Corel Paint is used well. ^_^ They're great programs to use, if you wanna save a bit on making a mess with real paints. That and spending on normal traditional art equipment. (bet the Corel program cost makes up for it though. ow!) Awesome work, and the expression on Jarome's face I love. Poor Norm. He just wants to be left alone to read. Or is it perhaps that he's camera shy?

Ha!

andrewk In reply to shaz [2005-04-25 13:38:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, I had to get Photoshop for the tremendous amount of work I had to do with the pages, and that is MORE THAN TWICE as expensive as Corel Painter. I really should get my hands on Painter, though, even if I have to borrow a copy from someone.

shaz In reply to andrewk [2005-04-25 16:45:46 +0000 UTC]

Heheh. A lot of my programs (except my Photoshop Elements) are copies from some good friends. I use them solely for practise and well, fun. And yeah, the dang programs from what I hear really are expensive.

This is such an awesome piece. I have to add it as a fav. I don't think I have been able to say this yet to all these pieces that your are bringing out and refining - good luck with the portfolio. It is going to be one portfolio that is going to be outstanding. So original your pieces, so full of life, expression. These new pieces I am seeing are just fabulous. Completely shows your talent. I remember the days of portfolio work, and you sometimes get so critical of your own pieces, hoping they are just "right" for those you want to see them. Well no worries on that on your portfolio. Everything I have seen is just amazing!
