Beautiful portrait!
With a frame around it I could really see this in a very posh, antique room ^_^
Love the expression... just marvellous!

Ha haaaa! I love it!!! Your work reminds me of those excellent, mushy fuzball bears in Balto and the squirrels in The Sword in the Stone! Great color! Looks like nice slathered on oils, thick as peanut butta'! Just delicious!!!

Haha, such dignity on the little fellow. It really looks like one of those portraits you can see of the previous governors in the city hall. Just the pipe is missing!

This really does look like a commissioned portrait, that was the first thing I thought before I read your blurb. It's got that air. And that background lighting. Though maybe not quite as finished as such a portrait would normally be. I can see Norm being quite proud of this.

Hehehe.. Norm and his books...
I like how you made the lines sorta sketchy almost... shows stabability and seriousness, which only adds to Norms portrait!

The only one thing that bugs me is the weird perspective on the book. While it may not be a big thing, it seems to stand out for me. The writing lines on the paper don't seem to follow the perspective with the rest of the book... and therefore makes it look distorted.

Haha! He looks so suave. I happen to like the undefined edges. It gives it that more painted and statuesque (did I even spell that right? ) look and along with that expression, the whole pic just looks priceless. Lovely job, hon! Not a single crit comin from me.

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to critique on this, considering you have so much more experience than I do in painting So I won't. But I have to say that the edges of this one do look a little messy and unrefined, and there are several areas which look rather rough. His hands, for example, have several small "frays" sticking out along the top, you can try blending those into a smooth line using the smudge tool.

Just wondering, was this done with a mouse or with a tablet?

And I can see why you asked about the mouse or tablet, because I couldn't get any width variety in the lines! I tried the settings, but it wouldn't work!

Oh well, I'll try another tablet on another computer and see if I can change anything.

Heh, my home tablet messes up sometimes too by refusing to obey the pressure settings, that's why I CG most of my stuff in school these days. >.< and it's looking pretty darn good for a hour's drawing! T_T

A tablet.

And yes, this took only an hour instead of two hours, and it shows. I was doing this while waiting for the freakin' school Intranet to be back up (the connection to the school's Internet is a bit unstable). So I may refine this later for another hour so it'll be as sharp and clear as Kiki's! Thanks for the comments!
