Description EDIT 8/22/09- Chris added a developed score that I added here. Nothing much has changed except for more instruments and atmosphere.

A while ago, I decided that one of the reasons why I got hired so LATE in the production process of a given show was because I 'just' did animation, which is a very late phase. Sometimes it even gets crammed into an unthinkable deadline because of an issue that happened in an earlier stage! Also, you don't have as much control over what to move if you 'just animate'. And aside from knowing I can indeed do storyboarding myself, I had nothing to show for it!

'Overdue' is a storyboard exercise that may not be developed past that stage, because I want to focus more on the actual story. It is made purely for my portfolio. Here is the storyboard itself.

The score was composed and mixed by a talented guy named Chris Lane, and is copyrighted him. If Chris's style sounds familiar, he also composed the score for my Senior film, 'Mime For A Day', 4 and a half years ago! Chris is in CA now working as a composer.

What I find that really works for this storyboard is the whole timing and attention to detail on the key frames. The music helps a ton , but since the expressions on each frame are coordinated so well on its own, the music could be used to emphasize a whole other level of depth that adds even more life to this.

There is nothing wrong I can find with this other than I really wish to see it fully animated but thats minor due to the actual timing of the key frames, overall I say great work on this and it is a joy to watch.

This was a very sweet and humorous short, great use of camera angle variety. The music accentuated your concepts very well without being overbearing. I found the part where he contemplated just running off with the book particularly amusing.
