Description
Suggested by luis18artist Here are my top 10 locomotives I would like to see rebuilt. The list is in no particular order, but here is my reasoning for each engine. The NYC Hudsons I have expressed my reasoning before, and we can only hope one day that one will eventually be built.
With the success of the T1 trust so far gives me hope that one day the Trust will be able to rebuild another duplex locomotive. Like the A1 trust in England now working on a P2, it seems like a Q2 would not be to far fetched.
The G3s pacifics of the CNJ is on the same level of beauty as the Daylight locomotives. If one was rebuilt it would look wonderful with the blue passenger trains of the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway.
The Poconos are by far my favorite class of 4-8-4s, and I would love to see one of these return to the main line, or running long distance excursion trains out of Steamtown.
The famous locomotive that Casey Jones drove on his last run was scraped before the era of railroad preservation took off, and a "replacement" is on display at the Casey Jones Museum. This locomotive is small compared to others on my list, and it most likely would just be a static display locomotive.
The true challengers of the North East of the Delaware and Hudson railroad were all sadly scrapped. A locomotive of this size may be hard to find a proper place to run, however I would still like to see one rebuilt.
The Southern Pacific MT-4 mountain types were sadly all scraped, and I think the efforts of an organisation to rebuild one would be well received. Just imagine one of these double heading with the 4449 on an excursion.
The 4-8-2s of the B&O, much like the last EM-1 were another class that was close to being preserved, but sadly were not. People often forget about this class compared to the other famous designs of the B&O.
This locomotive is a little more personal, although being the smallest locomotive on the list, combined with other locomotives from this time also being rebuilt, it would not be to hard of a job compared to the larger locomotives on my list.
The New Haven railroad was quick to dieselise, and many of their iconic locomotives were sadly lost, the I-5 being one of these. This passenger locomotive, like the NYC Hudson would look great on excursion runs throughout the North East. As far as streamlining goes, I'd much rather have one of these then a streamlined J1e.
Well that's my list, what locomotives would you like to see rebuilt?

Ummm...the D&H J's were the only Challengers in the Northeast, which...slightly surprises me on some levels.
As for newbuilds, I would love to see a new I-5 Shoreliner or a G3s of the CNJ. Other candidates would easily be either of the Milwaukee's Hiawatha's or CNW 400 steamers (both classes for both railroads actually had a chance to be preserved, but were surpassed by older engines because only one example of each wheel type could be saved...and of course rapid dieselization). Also, while it's pretty weak compared to most Northern types, I wouldn't mind a newbuild of Northern Pacifc's A1 'Four Aces'

Hmmm… Furness D5's, L&Y Dreadnoughts (tank or tender version), LBSCR B4/B4x, LNER D1/D2, LNER W1 in either shape, and a GWR 1101 class

Hmmmmmmm you have a really nice taste
I would also chose a Pre Grouping GWR Locomotive as a way to remember the GWR Origins
Also i will rebuilt a HR locomotive as the only surviving example of a Highland Railway engine its a Goods Engine
We dont have any passenger example and a GSWR Class 128 for having another example of a GSWR engine as the only survivor its a shunter
What i believe its that at least should be a new member of any Pre Grouping Railway
For example we have engines of the LBSCR but anything of the Antique London and Brigthon Railway
