Description More Dune art, portraying Leto II in his pre-giant sandworm phase while he is still more human in appearance. Also I made him a bit older then he is in the book, they made him older in the sci-fi tv series so I figured why not.

Nice work! I liked the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries a lot more than I thought I would, but I was very disappointed in the way they did Leto's transformation. This is closer to the book.

Well, try wearing a full body latex suit in a desert and see how many minutes at a time of filming you would be up to.

Love Dune. Watched Sons of Dune recently. It's good for what it is. I like James Mcavoy's portrayal of Leto II.ย

Awesome work!
I always imagine him around 15/16 yrs of age in that stage though (I thought he was even younger in the book. Like 10, or 12, but that gives a major 'incongruence error' in my head, lol)
Methinks he's an awesome character!

This is pretty sweet. I like the older look of Leto II you're portraying here. Though the blue mouths of the sandworms are a little odd to me.

Probably the best rendering of Leto II I've ever seen. Captures Frank's words and visualizes them beautifully.

I would have liked to have seen him in a stilsuit. BTW, for the folks who had to wear one, what happened when they had to BARF?? Wouldn't they have been giving up waters? LOL

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Rabenkraehe In reply to hairyskeleton [2012-09-20 11:41:16 +0000 UTC]

Fremen don't barf; that's part of their elementary water training. They might cough up some dust ...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

OnnaJReverT In reply to Rabenkraehe [2012-09-20 17:02:34 +0000 UTC]

also, since the suit also has a mouth-piece which recycles water from breathed-out air, iยดm not sure if it wouldnt also simply recycle it

He becomes a sandworm? Ive only watched the movie, but realise now the movie mustve been about a small part of a much bigger story

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 3

ElOblazewicz In reply to CaptainRicco [2012-09-20 23:05:43 +0000 UTC]

If you've seen only the David Lynch movie version then you might think that the man on the picture is Paul but no it's his son Leto II. The movie have got the general idea of the first book's plot but it's waaaaay off with many thing, and it adds a lot of stuff too. Example: Remember the fremen voice/sound weapon, the so called Weirding Modules? In the book "Weirding Way" is a form of super/ultimate martial arts. Lynch changed it into sonic weapon because he feared that it would turn his movie into a kung-fu flick. Also to make the statement that "his name had become a death-prayer" more literal.

CaptainRicco In reply to ElOblazewicz [2012-09-20 23:44:14 +0000 UTC]

whoa. I'm intrigued. Ill look up onto the books then, it seems ive been missing on a whole sci-fi universe here

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 0

AndrewRyanArt In reply to CaptainRicco [2012-09-20 02:41:33 +0000 UTC]

yeah he transforms into a huge sandworm and virtually the only human physical trait he retains is his fave and a couple stubby limbs poking out resulting in a very grotesque appearance. He also goes on to rule the universe for thousands of years.

GaialeiStrife In reply to CaptainRicco [2012-09-19 22:07:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, if you read God Emperor of Dune, by that time he is a Sandworm and it's WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY in the future.

I know the old movie and I've seen parts of the TV-series, but this image and the notion of pre-giant sandworm phase has me interested enough to perhaps pick the books up when I have more time to read!
