Description

Hey there!
This is the first tutorial from a set of three, covering the 1-point perspective.
I thought it was something I could attempt to elaborate given my studies. I've been sketching architecture for 6 years now so by now it almost comes naturally, but I tried to be as basic and clear as I could for this tutorial.
This is my take on it, although there should be plenty of other tutorials out there as well.

The theory really is the most essential if you'd ask me, for it will help you draw your own work.
The example image and steps are just one drawing I quickly threw together with no 100% dedication.
I wanted to vary the situations a little to show that it's applicable to many situations, but most info really is in the tutorial itself.

Remember that you may always ask me tips or feedback on your drawings!
Or if you have any questions, do ask!

I will maybe continue working from questions in a bonus round or something.
This is maybe one of the few art things I feel confident enough about - and I love to help my friends out.

If you thought this was helpful, do leave a comment and a fave!

Did you use this and attempted to draw with the perspective?
Do let me know in the comments, feel free to share your work!

Please don't redistribute this tutorial or the images, I worked a while on it!

You had a wonderful go on the matter here by keeping it simple and consistent in the same time, and it is finely elaborated Loved it and it remind me some basic stuff I normally use, but never thought of in more depth The only thing that have more or less been always difficult to me is to estimate the distances between neighbour objects so that they seem to be on their right places. Is there a trick to this?

I'm glad it could help that way! I wasn't sure if I was being too basic or too complex because after a while you're not sure how much you can condense your knowledge into a tutorial. I could still go on but then I'd be writing too much I think hahaha!

You mean in depth? Because that really depends on like "how intense" your zoom is (like how far your vanishing point lies). It's one of the things I think you get a feeling for once you get more experience with the perspective. There's no real rule to measure and so, it's more like a feeling - unfortunately perhaps.
Maybe having enough objects for scale nearby helps? If you have something like that, do poke me a WIP perhaps and I can look into things. :>

Just perfect to meΒ  Β

I see! It is funny how it always feels like there is some sort of trick to this, like there must be XD But after all, we have to count on our senses for space TT_TT

Last but not least, thank you for your proposition. It will be of a great help

I haven't discovered the trick at least. XD It's all just rough guessing and feeling to me.
What you could do is like... Have another grid of horizontal and vertical lines and put them in a relative distance to each other, like every line is 1,1 times more distant than the one in the back? But that's so much work-

No worries!

It is a good start (and I sort of end up always going too deep into unnecessary details XD Some more work doesn't scare me... not every time... at least XD) Thank you once again for this hint

Glad you liked it!
In the future I'll make one about 2-point and 3-point perspective as well, just to cover all ground.
I may also go further with the architectural themes about design and so, but that depends on what people request. c:
