A lot of you seemed to find my other tutorial helpful so I decided to make another one. And, in a poll I did, most of you wanted more on backgrounds so here it is There is also a bit about colour and perspective in there, of course - they go hand in hand - and hopefully this will help you all!

I've met far too many people who are scared of backgrounds and for no reason! Just like everything else, they take a lot of practice and time. It tends to take me longer to finish my background than to finish the main subject of my painting, even, so if you find you're not even halfway when you finish up the foreground, don't feel bad!

A little piece of me dies on the inside when I hear people say they don't do background 'because they're bad at them' or 'because they're not improving', or anything along those lines. There's a lot to learn to them and it can be frustrating but don't give up; there are amazing backgrounds skills in everyone
