I've been waiting very impatiently for this one, cause its a pretty important one for me. The new badder and improve Deathstroke returns in the latest episode of Arrow "Blindspot". I was very excited when i find out that I get to do a new version of him, but also comes the burden that Arkham Origin just came out and their Deathstroke is BAD-ASS!!! What to do?? I looked up every single version of him that has been done to find key elements but also things that has been done. Almost everything has been done........ so the only strong direction is to stick to the style of the show and ground him. The Arkham version is super cool but has a lot of more fantastic elements that I can stay away from, his armors are almost abit medieval inspired. I was also excited when Costume Designer Maya Mani told me that they are finally open to more hard body armor and even some colors other than the black and greys! We've talked about that it should not be a completely new suit the he built, but more like an upgraded version of Slade, so I took alot of the Island Slade elements and incorporated into the new Deathstroke. I know it will be compare to the Arkham one, but I think we found a good balance that it is cool enough but realistic enough so I'm not so worried by the end of it. Enjoy!Related content

Picking a favourite between this design and the one for Wintergreen is a hard one. Both are brilliant. The original armour used seemed to give Jeffrey some freedom to jump and move around. Making the character appear like a more agile version. This one just looks outright threatening, what is fantastic because let's face it: it's hard to make orange and black appear like a threat. But this design just captures it. Also it seems like the 'bigger challenge', equiped with bazillions of weapons this one sure captures what originally made me pee my pants when reading Batman.
Both are fantastic and incredibly loyal to the source material.
A new Dark Archer suit would be awesome by the way, now that the LOA is sporting the same costumes that might be a fantastic new costume to design. Especially with the original Merlyn outfit.
I'd go with the 'Green Arrow in Black' look, only with a few difference like the double quiver

Yeah, i just started watching this series, AND I'M HOOKED.

So I see on the show his new Deathstroke has a katana rather than the tactical swords he used on the island and in this design. I really love his blades on the island so I wish they'd gone the route of this initial design and kept those. Just a minor nitpick to an overall awesome new suit.

This is awesome but his Arkham Origins look is even better. Wonder why they couldn't adapt that aesthetic look onto arrow? It's still realistic. I prefer the Origins mask.

I have to agree, and I like medieval. This design is modern with a militaristic look to it that just makes it fit with the theme. It's far more realistic.

Awesome, this is just the perfct design for Deathstroke. Only complaint is the loss of the scarf he wore in the first season/Island segments. I liked that bit for some reason, it gave him a special forces vibe.

okay i can see a bit of the island elements in this one, however THIS SUIT IS EPIC! and WAY BETTER then the Arkham one. Hands down the suit is also very fictional and looks great in live action and really captures the character of Deathstroke perfectly well.

Thanks! Haha I wouldn't say that it is BETTER than the Arkham one, I'm a huge fan of that design. This is different and works for arrow, i'm really happy how it turned out. Maya the costume designer and her department did a great job!

well i like arkhams design as well however in my opinion you both did an amazing job. to me I want to see you do batman awfully bad and what your incarnations of flash and superman would look like because its still an amazing, great take on the character and your right, just about everything has been done with Slade. When I make concept art, concepts like your slade are the ones I try hard to aim for.

yeah I can understand being scared, however I have faith in you Andy that your batman design would be amazing. I am sure they will hire you, heck if I where in charge of the WB I'd hire you to just do batman or at least my incarnation of batman [which isn't Bruce Wayne but someone more fun.]
