Description
View from the Top of Half-Dome UPDATED PHOTOThis is one of the views from the top of Half-Dome in Yosemite. On Saturday, June 20, 2009, Kathy, Robin, Julie and I went to Yosemite to hike and climb to the top of Half-Dome (right side of the photo). It's a 17 mile round trip and a 4,000 foot elevation gain. We started at 5:00 AM and returned at 5:00 PM.
c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/im… This is a photo of Robin, Kathy, Julie and Andy (me) on the ledge. I'm wearing the blue shirt and black short-shorts.
It's a straight drop down - actually, 4,000 feet straight down. Yet, people sat on the very edge.

on Climbing Half-Dome, Ring Around the Tree and View from the Top of Half Dome. You can be there. Just come to California and take this nice 17 mile hike!

Oh my God! Look at those people who are leaning right over the edge! It makes me feel a bit ill to my stomach to see them doing that...I don't know how they have the nerve to do something that frightening! *Laughs* Well, kudos for them! You know I could never do such a thing. I think I would die of fright, quite literally. I'd be laying down on my stomach or something. *Laughs again* Uh-oh, nope! That is one thing I shall never do. Instead, I'll just enjoy the view by looking at your photo.

If my photo angle is good enough to make you feel ill, then I've done my job.
Here is a photo of [link] Robin, Kathy, Julie and myself on the peak. I'm the one with the sexy legs. It was very scary being that close to the edge. Immediately after this photo, I scurried away from the edge. That was too close for me without a rope.

I've been to that very spot. What a view. I only live about an hour or so from Yosemite. It makes me feel so small when I'm looking at all the wonderful mountains.

I sure do! Yosemite is one of my favorite places to go. I love going in the Spring when the falls are roaring and the air is so crisp.

I'd be a little hesitant when deciding if I wanted 2 sit on that edge! But I think in the end I'd plant my keester right there on the very edge, just 2 experience the thrill of being up that high lol

When you're up on the peak, you truly feel like you're on top of the world. It's a 4,000 foot drop strait down. You'd probably sit on the edge. Your head would likely spin when you look down though.

Tenaya Canyon and Half-Dome. This is certainly one of my all-time favorite vistas. I walked from the point where I took the photo all the way to the top of the peak on the right. [link]

See where the guy in the white is standing, towards the edge? Some guy did a toe touch right there when I was there. My friend got a great picture of it...
Yet again, you did a great job of capturing this.

We were across from him and heard him go "I'm going to do a toe touch!"
It was crazy.
He could have died easily. But he landed it fine.
T.J. got the picture at the perfect time.

Many people have fallen going up that rock and while on it. So, he was certainly playing dice with the big one.

so many people.
It hardly seems worth the climb to be surrounded by so many tourists.
but then, they are hard core hiking tourists, so maybe its ok.

It takes about 6 hours of hiking just to get to the bottom of this line. So after all those hours, it would be silly to not go to the top and scare the beejesus out of yourself
