Description
I didn't upload this drawing until now, why didn't I upload it sooner? This Zero drawing was done in color pencil and sharpie and probably the most satisfying looking picture I have ever made (other than my Zentangle octopus xD).I just LOVE the X series. It's my favorite video game franchise of ALL time! Hopefully this snapshot I took with my phone is better than the one of Sans, cuz the brighter the lighting, the better it looks.
Edit: I retook the photo now. That drawer doesn't show anymore, what do ya think?
Zero belongs to Capcom.

Hello from ProjectComment
I have to open by saying that, all in all, this is a stunning piece. I like how beautifully it's coloured and how well you've handled the shading and highlighting. The various shades blend nicely into one and other and I think the splash of light on his hair works well. I like how naturally the pose looks; nothing seems out of place or impossible for someone to make themselves, and I love the sense of movement he has. I get the impression he's either leaping out of the way of an opponent's attack while still keeping an eye on them or perhaps winding up a punch with his back hand.
My only real criticisms are the placement of the arm holding the beam sword and the leg. Due to both being coloured in black, their position, and perhaps the way the photo was taken, it's difficult to tell where one ends. Obviously it's difficult considering the pose you wanted, the lack of thick outlines (which, even then, would still be lost by the fact those parts were black) and the character's design but it may be something to consider for the future.
Speaking of how you captured this picture, I'd personally recommend against taking photos using your phone. Perhaps it's just my eyes, but I feel like the stage right hand side is darker than the stage left, as well as the lines seemingly being thicker (though that may be due more to how the piece was drawn). I also get the feeling that the piece is at an angle but, again, it could be my eyes. I know you can get apps that will scan a picture for you and although I've not used it much myself, I've heard great things about "CamScanner". The app is free to use and I believe it's possible to edit the picture once it's scanned so you could crop out anything you don't want, say the wall behind the picture.
However both are ultimately minor nitpicks as I really can't find anything else to fault or criticise on this piece; wonderful work all round.

Thanks! I downloaded the app, it looks like it would come in handy.

It looks MUCH better now. Going back to my original criticism, I can now see where the arm holding the beam sword overlaps with the leg, rather than them being blended into one. Did you use CamScanner, or just the camera option on your phone?
I'd also suggest putting the re-upload date on the piece (i.e. "Edit 28/08/2017") just so people are clear that any comments made before the date would apply to an earlier version. I know it may seem obvious, but I feel it's best to be as transparent as possible, especially if people miss something in the artist comments (assuming they even read it of course).

What's your favorite X game?

Maverick Hunter X looks fun, but I haven't played it yet. So far it's Megaman X4. If only there was a redub then the voices wouldn't bother me as much.

Megaman Xtreme cuz it's really glitchy sometimes (I played on an emulator so idk if it's the same on GBC) and the Variable X theme is played so much, it loses its impact. And pretty bland most of the time. Many would say X6, but I did like its story.

Ah ok. I also played the two xtreme games and I think they are decent.

Here are the glitches I was talking about:

That's great! I'm not forcing ya to hate them. I just thought Xtreme 1 was bland. Xtreme 2 seemed more polished.

I agree that Xtreme 2 is more polished.
I heard that X6 is really bad.
Is that true?

The pose is stunningly dynamic. Β The way you've positioned the saber and Zero's hair create a balance while the viewer's eye follows in a continuous loop. Β The fact that you used sharpie and did so well on the line art alone speaks wonders of your talent. Β I also adore the shading done with the colored pencil, it blends seamlessly. Β
However one part that I see needs a work on is the saber. Β It could be more rounded like he has just drawn it thus creating a circular wave of energy to really aid with the loop you've created. Β Another little detail that could make it pop would be to add crest shadows and reflected light to the blade. Β It may be admitting light but that doesn't exclude it from shading. Β Also add highlights to Zero's armor to really make it shine to give that vibe of metal.
Overall, a wonderful piece.

Thanks for critiquing. I guess I should've used that color test sheet I had, so I know what 2 use 4 his saber's shadows. Maybe his saber could be less stiff as ya said. I guess it's good to change some details of the reference picture I used (iirc, the sword almost lacked a shadow).

No problem. And hey never hurts to add your own twist on something you're using as reference. Β It makes the piece more of your own. Β (Especially when the reference lacks something like shadows).

It looks pretty cool, but Zero's head looks a bit wonky, and I can't help but wonder if you traced this or not. Β Or maybe that's just me being a bit too paranoid.

I didn't trace it (reference pic vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/m⦠), but I did make that mistake with his helmet. Once I noticed the mistake I was like: Ugh, damn it! I should've noticed that b4 coloring!
