I would disagree with both of you on that count. Though I can't speak for Egypt, as a South African I can't say I feel particularly imperiled.
Our country has problems, I won't deny that, but media coverage tends to blow them vastly out of proportion. The daily experiences of many African people are not dissimilar to the rest of the world, despite the misconceptions that we keep lions as pets and all own AK 47s.
I just want to promote the idea that Africa is not synonymous with war, poverty and crime. It really is a beautiful place with enormous potential and strong, hard-working people.
