I prefer the larger plates, the smaller plates look as though the don't offer the same amount of protection

thats what im thinking, i've also thought of havin half and half so the neck, upper arm and part of the legs have the smaller plantes so it looks like it could move around thith more mobillity

I don't think having smaller plates in areas that do not typically move,like the upper arm and leg, would aid in that. The smaller plates on the neck will allow it to have a larger scope of movement allowing it to see more. I think the hunched look you give to a lot of your mechs and large forearms give the illusion that they're not that mobile, like they are weighed down and bulky. Maybe something that is thinner in the appendages but still plated.

the tenticles have to move under the armor plates and in areas like the shoulders they would need the room to do so, thats the tought anyway
