The silence was deafening. Unbelievably deafening. Her body trembled as she looked at what was before her. Only moments before, the silence was filled with laughter, a harsh, painful kind of laughter. Twilight’s vision began to falter, it was blurry, and her face was wet.

Wet with what? She wondered, putting a hoof to her face she realized it all too soon. Then, all at once, the pain came rushing back in, and the realm of shadows was filled with Princess Twilight Sparkle’s screams of anguish. Her face thrown into the realm’s endless black sky.

She remembered her eyes as she’d laughed at her. Those eyes, those beautiful eyes once belonged to her husband’s. Once belonged to her daughter, and in the end belonged to a monster’s. A beautiful monster she created. She neglected. She dismissed.

Now here she stands before the stone frozen figure of the one she loved dearly. The one she once weaved flower crowns and made apples into oranges for. The tears fell from her eyes like rain from sky, and finally she dropped her head to the ground. Twilight unfurled her wings as warm stress stung at her, her body still tense.

It wasn’t her fault. There was nothing to be done for her. Twilight could’ve only done that. It was for equestria. It had to be.

Hoofsteps sounded behind her as Twilight kept her head low to the ground.

That laughing, still frozen to her face, Celestia did it pain her to look up. Can she even remember those last words?

The steps began to sound louder and louder.

“I am a Lumenia.” Was that her last words? Or perhaps it was just the sound of mocking, it had to be. “I’m sorry,” maybe it was her final apologies for all she’d done..

“Twilight?”
