These are just tips on how I create characters, it's not particularry right or wrong it's opinion based.although really, get referances when drawring D:

Ummm would'nt advise you put em in rp's with any other universe. Otherwise they become sues. IF however everyone is like that. then...umm...they're ok i guess? It's more in compared to other character dealio.

in rp's it's more of a case of not everyone can win at everything. like most of my characters are AWFUL at any physical fight and realy can't defend themselves. so never used in those sorts. But verbally they can...stand there ground. but yeah can't always win~

Mine at first was the one who was awful at fighting,then I changed with some power stuff of electricity.But then DBZ came to my mind and ksjdfklsa stuff happend.This guide helped me a lot after all I a lot of stuff to download but im socha ass that I dint do it.So ill take your advise thankssssssssss~!

hehe don't worry good backstories to take time XD half my characters did'nt really have backstories for weeks even months befour i started working on them~

Harhar yes having weird species is great XD I'm slowly anthro-ising all my characters, so far I made two hedgehogs, a bat, an echidna and a fox into a meerkat, a crocodile-bunny, a goldfish, a bull and a bear XD
I'd also have to disagree on the personality part, personalities should be as complex and detailed as possible in order for a character to be realistic. You can actually make mary-sueish personalities believable if your detail it hard enough and find reasons for each characteristic: A beautiful, always happy, strong woman that had a tragic past can be real if, say, her dad verbally abused her and she ended up overcoming the pain and not caring about what he said, basically becoming independant and not letting negative opinions affect her ever... she'd also have trouble getting along with people and would probably always be trying to prove she's the best at everything too XD
that's usually how i design my characters personalities and backstories actually, get a few traits, find why the character would have them and find moar traits that could also be present because of those things. If I branch things enough I end up with a full personality and backstory |D
Character traits don't have to come form huge event that are mentioned on the backstory either.They can come from a minor event which you know about but don't write down in the dA bio XD Like for example I got into dark stories and shit because of a song in the Muppet's Christmas Carol [link] XDDD but you gotta know it's there if someone ask "oh why does he act liek this" or if someone wonders how your char was raised at age 1-3 |D
You're right with relationships too, there's not only love, rivalries and friendship XD I need to work on that with my chars, the relationships aren't that developed :/

iye it IS possible, but so far i don't think i've seen any well-made characetrs like that on deviantart. i think i was saying don't over do it pureply because i recently rp'ed with someoen who had a loonngg lonnggg backstory wit like 6 different tragic events, i felt he overdid it, so just warnign people not to totally over do it.....and not make everyones backstory tragic XD
mmhmmm is how i tend to do things XD althoguh i tend to image small little interactions in my head, such as whilst having a shower i thought of 'what is this guy (Y) tried to sleep with this girl (x), he brother (Z) were to find out then yell at the boy, Y proclaimed she was easy, then Y eventually break out and says Y dos'nt deserve Z because she's beautiful, so showing some 'true' feelings towards his siblin. those kinda little events XD
BUt oh man if you can branch out from 1 event it does wonders o:
oh yash, i myself am quite bored of the whole 'parents died, them more bad things happened as a child' kinda characters, it's been done to death so it's nice to have people who are built on minor events that ar'nt completely scaring |D

Well an actual hedgehog could be nice though XD as long as it looks like one and isn't just "oh see my Sonic character isn't one anymore cuz I removed it's muzzle" XD
And ya small interactions are important too X3 that what 90% of our lives are made of 8D

mary sue's are annoying characters who have everything amazing about them, i'd look it up on urban dictionary or somthing

she is a very background character all the people hate her she showed up once in my daydream she was fighting with the new kid and got her snooty ass kicked by leea and her crew

I reallllllllllllllllllllllllly want to revamp my 6 OC's.... cuz they are too much of fan characters. BLAHHHHHHH but i don't want to make them humans.... hmmmm.... hahaha i just want to develop them more in general. All your characters are great, AND you have so many too!!!! ...oh well. I'll get to your level in character design eventually.

oh OC do'snt have to mean human XD can be based off anything, dragon, robor, insect, animal, or a human in a crazy style or evne somthgin you dunno what the fupp it is like my pyscho people [link] x:

Yeah, they probably think he's some crazed lunatic or something, BTW, How can I possibly get into the "Role playing chat rooms"? And I'm thinking of maybe (If you do another comic like this) having him talk with some of the people that get the main focus like hitman,sonyoo,shanona(I'm sure they could possibly be pretty good friends) etc. If possible, kinda get to know them and hangout with them I dunno, your the creator. Keep up teh good work of awesomeness.

yah he can talk to hitman although i dunno the concent of it XD the only dialog that gets from roleplays to the comic are ones that develop my guys, like if i happen to think of somthing about anono's personaliy while rping, it would prolly get in the comic. bad thing about hitman is that he's pretty much done with development XD

finally a tutorial who is really useful! i was searching on DA a good tutorial/tips for creating character but i always find things like "how to draw an anthro/sonic FC" and basic but not to much detailed...-.-
Really, thank you for your useful tip, btw, weathercoat is my fav character of your comic (design, personality and he's funny) and i think dialogue comic are more interesting than battle comic, seriously.

hehe i've only really found 'how to draw this character' purple keckleon did a decent one that was very nice~ she poitned out how people over do designs~
hehe weathercoats to me needs some more fine tuneing on his personality, though rping has helped him..i give him suc nice little arguments with scarlet XD but OMG yes battle comics go no where for me, i mena the firs few pannels are pretty but...ehhh...can the characters atually say somthign and further themselves?

scarlet knows vox's beautiful pasts so she she's all gaga over him because he poured his heart out to her telling why he's the way he is. she took this for a lovey dovey thing. This is why vox wanted the lesbian girl to tell his secrets to now, so she would'nt go all lovey dovey on him.

I know at least 5 out of 8 of my characters seem like Sues, because it takes me an ETERNITY to finalize a background story properly. I'm trying to change style and fade away from basing my characters on Sonic, but I'm always paranoid that I'm being too much like you and I'll be accused of idea theft or something. For example, today in class I drew one of my characters in a less Sonic-y style, and according to my point of view, she looked way too much like Vox. x: The anatomy part is going to help me SOOOO DANG MUCH, because even though I'm backing away from sonieek I've already adapted to drawing skinny arms and legs. |D AND I NEED HELP WITH BOOBS. FFFF I CAN'T DRAW BOOBS.

see for me backstories don't realllly matter XD it's how the character is NOW in the present that veiwers see and care about o3o
well once you start coming away from sonic you can get our own facial style |D it'll be jammin~

Yes, but at least you had more shape in your characters. I can't draw things with very much shape... they're very geometrical |D
Yes, I think that would be the most helpful, but try to include an in-between stage of boobs, because all that's mentioned in the tutorials I look at are child/flat boobs and size D boobs, and my character is in the middle. D:

well yes, so long as you exsplain behavour it's all well and good. although most my cast seem to do alright without the aid of backstory >.> iris has little to none as well as hookey XD
then fade now X) start as early as you can, alot of people have done the transition from sonic to own style anthro's o3o
yeah that's what i plan on doing, trying to draw most the cupsizes, then different shapes, sagging ones for older people...gonna have to get quite abit of referances.

Well one of my characters acts like a beeyotch and doesn't trust anybody, so I'd have to mention why in order to avoid all the yells of "Mary-Sue!!"
