Description 25 years ago, on September 8, 1996, the first episode of Blue's Clues premiered on Nickelodeon's preschool block, Nick Jr.. The series revolved around the adventures of Blue, a blue dog and Steve, her human owner, spending every day doing activities. In each episode, Blue either desires to do something or wants to say something regarding the topic of the episode, and to understand what she wants to do or say, we, the audience, play a game called Blue's Clues, where Blue would leave a paw print on a certain object that would tie in to the solution of what the mystery of the game is. Throughout the episode, Blue and Steve would go around the house and interact with their friends, which mainly consist of anthropomorphic household items like French-speaking salt and pepper shakers, a brother and sister shovel and pail, a wise-cracking mailbox, among others.

The show was such a smash hit, it became a childhood staple to many of the kids growing up in the late 90s or early 2000s. It made a lot of revenue from all the product tie-is, and even got its own movie musical called Blue's Big Musical. Kids generally loved the way that they could interact with the show, and follow along with the characters, who each hold a special kind of charm that became rooted into their intended audience. The show would also be home to one of the saddest moments in preschool show history. In the Season 4 finale, "Steve Goes to College", Steve announced that he would be leaving the house to go to college, but needs to find someone to look over Blue and the others. Enter Steve's brother, Joe, who, from this episode on, would be taking the reins from Steve. At the very episode of the episode, Steve would thank us for all their help, says goodbye to his friends, and jumps onto the bus to go to college. The series eventually ended in 2006, but then came the spin-off show, Blue's Room, which was about Blue, now with the ability to talk, interacting with a new group of friends. Although it had a short run, lasting only three years, the thing that made the show unique was that it used puppets to portray the characters.

Then, in 2019, there would be a reboot to Blue's Clues called Blue's Clues and You!, which is basically the same as the original show, by now utilizes a 3D visual style for all the characters, and feature a new human host named Josh. In fact, in the VERY FIRST EPISODE, the show's past two hosts, Steve and Joe, would make cameo appearances, where Steve reveals that he went to college to become a legitimate detective, running his own detective agency. Speaking on Steve, just the day before, Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.'s Twitter accounts posted a video of Steve Burns, the actor behind Steve, saying that during his time at college, he managed to accomplish so much in his life, and then reminds us that during those many years while he was away, we accomplished much in our lives as well. However, the video delivered an emotional sucker punch to the heart when Steve tells us that while he was away, he never forgot about us and compliments on how much we've grown up, because it really shows how integral he was to the show, as we never forgot about him, so it makes sense that he would never forget about us. I left a link for the video below.

I've said this a few times in the past, but Blue's Clues is a really personal cartoon to me. The biggest impact this show had on me is that it was the cartoon that got me to become an artist. Every time I would watch an episode, I always had a habit of drawing the clues Steve would draw in his Handy Dandy Notebook. In fact, I even had a Handy Dandy Notebook of my own (unlike in the show, the "paper" was made of plastic and was meant to be drawn on with a whiteboard marker and not a crayon). In fact, I still remember that one of my first ever drawings was a cow from one of the episodes. To this day, my skills as an artist are increasing by the day, and just the though of looking at that drawing of a cow serves as a constant reminder of how far I've come, and I am forever grateful at the show for that.

Honestly, I don't have any significant to say about the making of this artwork. Hope you enjoy my dedication to my childhood cartoon, and may the show live on in those who watched it. I know it will with me.
