Description
This is a contest entry for NIS America's artwork contest for their newly-released PSP RPG, Blade Dancer.I've never played the game before (heck, I don't even own a PSP), but the prize piqued my interest- some artwork from the woman who worked as an artist on the game. I hope I place! ^__^
*edit* I got an email from NISA stating that I won the contest. ^__^

wonderful picture! i've just started playing it though (oh, i got a version in which you could choose what language the dubs would be. whatever language you choose, the subs would be english

Thank you! I've never played it, but if I get a PSP, I'm tempted to try it out. It takes a pretty sucky RPG for me not to like it. But of course, I'd import it, so I don't have to suffer through the terrible English voice acting. XD

Heh. No I won't. I don't have a PSP, nor am planning on getting one any time soon. I just did it because I liked the art direction of the game and I wanted the original artwork by the artist.

Excellent job in this picture. The dark lighting really sets up the mood of ominous suspense. The characters themselves look fantastic. Everything else is all the more reason you won the contest.
I was about to consider Blade Dancer for the PSP...

The background is very simple in this pic and although I think you should have paid a little more attention to it, I think the sky is exactly spot on! Very dark and gloomy, fits very well with the scene and the colouring.

Lovely background, and i love the detail in the grass. I think maybe their forearms are a bit too short, and the guys hand's are too small for a guy. Also, the girl's neck is just a tiny bit too long (perhaps if you brought the shoulder line up?). Looks great though, and as always your shading looks wondermus! Some light reflecting on the guys sword and clothing from the glowy skull thing would have been kewl...

Nope. I'd have carpal tunnel by now. I tried that once actually, and my hand was in serious pain afterward. Now what I do is I draw a clump, blade by blade, and then I copy/paste that along the length of the picture. Then I draw blades of grass along that to make it all look different. Wonderful hand and time saver, that.
