Mari takes after his papa quite noticeably, doesn't he?

Anyway, yes, Mari's dad, Hal. I don't have anything big in mind for his character, he's just a regular ol' dude.

He was 21 when his then girlfriend got pregnant. She didn't want a baby and was ready to terminate the egg, but Hal pleaded her to carry it to term and then hand it over to him for the final gestation, completely willing to raise a child alone. And so they parted ways with no hard feelings, but didn't keep in contact. Hal raised Mari alone for a few years and was as good a parent as anyone could want. When Mari was about 5, Hal met a lovely Yol lady named Cerise. They later got married and made a nice and happy little family. Mari had a relatively normal and happy childhood and the family led a rather comfortable life in general. Hal and Cerise also had a daughter together, named Élysée.

Now, as Mari is 23, Hal is 44 and he and Cerise have since separated. He wishes he and his son could keep closer contact, but Mari rarely seems to have time for him or take an interest in his life anymore. Oh well, gotta let the youngun's have their fun. Now that Mari is all grown up, Hal is currently reliving his younger days a bit, getting out there and making up for the time lost on raising a child and being a family man.
