Description Eh, someone from another community poked at me to submit this.

Was shot for a project for class - we were to create a menu for a restraunt to be ready to go to press - I went overboard (when don't I?) and shot the photographs for mine, and had fun playing with the food. What was weird for me was to turn in my assignment which was my own photography and design entirely, and see other people submitting things they copied from a takeout menu or nabbed from stock photo sites.

Setup was the 500 watt light, a few desk lamps on clamps. Cake on a glass plate - think this one was from the dollar store, but don't recall (this was April 19th), plate on a very nice glass table top that was given to me by a friend who got a new dining set Chocolate sauce, strawberries from grocers, cake was from Smith's Markets on Lasalle Blvd in Sudbury. I also added sprinkles, but they are not visible from this angle.

This could be better, of course. Having lights now that will not melt the icing and chocolate sauce quite as fast would definately be helpful if I was reshooting. Being able to modify more than one light source would have also been helpful.

I know it's not superb, in terms of food photography, but I thought I would share the best of what I had been doing in that vein in the spring.

Mmm. The only word I can come up is "luscious", which suits this piece very well, I think. You've got it down to a T. My only complaint is that the line of the plate is a bit irregular, and I'm not sure I like the way it disappears. Other than that.... damn it I gotta go find some chocolate now

mmm... chocolate...
I love the way the plate 'disappears' at the back.
This would definitely look good on a menu.

It looks decent, but since I'm allergic to chocolate, I can't offer any more advice.

Ah, for shame. Although this was a bit too sweet for my liking when I ate it.

Are chocolate allergies normally born-with, or developed in early childhood / teenager/adulthood?

I think you're born with the allergy.

I know I've had it as long as I can remember. I heard that the chef Emeril Lagassi had it when he was a kid, but he overcame it.
I can eat white chocolate, but the milk or dark stuff...nah. S'all right, tho.

Heh thanks!

I need to sort out my appartment and just get random food to photograph. I've got a few more ideas now of how I would reshoot things - not to mention the playing with food

You are most welcome, hon!!
Eww...I hate moving!! Cool! I am anxious to see the results of playing with food!! I like playing with food too, but generally end up eating it! Especially if it's chocolate!! :blushing:
