Description So Freedom Planet has pretty much become my latest obsession. Then again, I've got a soft spot for old-school platforming and this kind of "retro" isn't 8-bit for once. I highly recommend at least trying out the demo if that's your kind of thing, too.

From left to right, we have Milla Basset, Sash Lilac, Torque, and Carol Tea staring down the villain's fortress. At the time I drew this, there was absolutely no picture out there anywhere of Torque with his back turned. Not even in-game. I wish I could have waited until he came out as a playable character so I could get a shot of him on a ladder or something, but alas... the contest I'm submitting this to ends in a little more than a week. Also, I'm awful at low-angle shots...

Whoa, I don't remember the last time I saw you post something.

Dramatic low angles are some tricky drawings, mmyep, since you have to really force the perspective to get a strong effect. I think you might've blurred the background a bit too much though, as it could be more imposing if it had stronger presence.

Heh... yours is a name I haven't seen in quite a while.

Yeah, the background was a persistent concern after getting the picture done. My intent was to portray distance (the subject of the background is huge), but I'll agree it does look rather muddy. All attempts to remedy this made Lilac even harder to see than she already is, though... I suppose that's my fault for putting a purple character on a dark blue-purple background.

Those characters with mono-color schemes (analogous) can be troublesome in general, heh. You might be able to solve it by using rim lighting on her hair, since you already have things like the legs and boots using rim lighting. No worries though, just some possible tips.

certainly gonna beat my pic

I'd just be happy Torque would be playable is all. His'll probably be the most interesting story-wise.
