A female cave bear confronts a much larger boar as her cub flees.

Infanticide is common amongst many carnivorans including bears, and was likely present among cave bears as well.

Pathologies in some sow remains are at least partially attributable to fights with the larger males, presumably in defence of their cubs as is seen in the present day.
