A different take on these guys.... my story

In the year 2130, the earth has been scorched due to over population and global warming. Billions were wiped out and the world fell into chaos. Food and water became a high commodity and the poor went hungry. Hunger became panic. Panic became hostility. Hostility became wars. The wars all but wiped out humanity. Nuclear weapons created wastelands across the globe. It was in these final days when a ruthless a terrorist organization rose to power through the use of fear and intimidation. The Foot. Named for their ruthlessness. To keep all under their heels through fear and intimidation. After taking over most of the only inhabitated human cities left, the foot, lead by unknown/unseen leader only known as the Shredder. Securing all available resources and controlling them, the foot became the only hope for survival.

In order to guarantee resources were regularly accessible, Shredder implemented a population control policy which prohibited any citizen of any human city to reproduce. Human reproduction was now done in a lab, in a tube, supervised and dictated only be Shredder. Any human found to have conceived outside of shredders law were severely punished and the child was terminated. The infants born in Shredders facilities were sterilized at birth to prevent any future deviations. In order to create a more efficient human, babies received a human growth hormone which accelerated their growth by 400% until they were adults. The human cities slowly became populated with Shredders creations and less of what was truly natural. From this, a resistance formed outside of the genetic cities, in the wastelands, with the goal of overthrowing the Foots reign and returning things to the natural order.

The resistance was lead by a man who was a former general of shredders army. When his wife became pregnant with a child outside of shredders lab, he fled the cities knowing what would happen if Shredder was to become aware. Stumbling across a group of turtles and a rat in the sewers, he gathered them up for what was going to make a meal for him and his pregnant wife. He later realized they were not ordinary, they had been exposed to a raw dose of Shredders Accelerated Growth Serum and were mutating. Mutating at an alarming rate, while gaining intelligence and human characteristics. He raised them. Trained them. Trained them to protect the only naturally born human in the past 50 years.

The resistance sustained a large blow when their headquarters was attacked by the foot and their leader was killed. The four turtles, named after famous renaissance painters, and the rat named splinter, were left to carry on their mission of protecting the first, and possibly last, human born child, April O'Neil, and to finish what their father started; take down Shredder and his tyrannical Foot Clan.
