Powerful. Striking. Meaningful. Ironic. Illuminating. Disquieting. Disturbing. Depressing.
I could list a hundred other words to describe this piece. I could even say what I think it means, and whether or not I think I agree with it, but one thing is certain: It is a work of art. And one of the most unforgettable pieces I've come across.
I know not the relevance of me saying this, but it seems to me that in this day an age there are many who do not believe in god, yet say that they do, and many who do believe in god, but do not know that they do.

This is a depressing pic. The robot does not want to be there, but is chained down.

I think the "robot" is chained down because it's full of money and people might want to steal it
looks to me like it's in only human form so we can identify with it as it "prays", making its promise more believable (and making it a better investment...)

I'm inclined to post, though I highly doubt my comment will be read/noticed. This is probably one of my favourite paintings on the web. The concept is amazing, as everyone has said, but the visual is jawdropping. The use of colour, the lack of colour... I love it.

reminds me very much of the Woody Allen movie "Sleeper"
this is like a meshing of one of the robots and one of his encounters
with modern day religion, where confession was done
in front of a machine that absolved your sins.
his film was loosely based on a book by H. G. Wells

in this i like the opposition of rainbow, neon modern city colors
and the antiquated sepia tones in the religious artifact.
