Ok, after few years I've finally got to fix the wall of text a tiny little bit so I hope it's less intimidating now and maybe even makes more sense? The whole explanation still is rather forced but to fix it properly I'd have to rewrite and redraw all of it and then I'd have to do the same with the most part of the story aaaand I'm not gonna do it.

But I hope it explains a bit, more or less clearly, about the world they're in.
And of course the "not good at explaining things" part is just about Khail. Not the author. Definitely not. Nuh-uh. No way.
...
A-anyway, since my Sis said one part of that explanation isn't clear enough, namely the
"anyone with the magical abilities can summon a Pokemon but only a Trainer can catch it (...)" part. I meant by that, that the Pokeballs are enchanted crystals so once it's filled with the beast and all paths and gates are done, anyone with that "magic" (here - Summoners) can use it freely. But like I said the Pokeball is just a key and someone have to make the door and lock for it and that's what only Trainers can do.
Since I create my own rules in this world I know that many things can be a bit messy, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I can't guarantee I'll be able to answer them right here and now though, 'couse I'm still thinking about everything and changing it to match the bits in my head

I actually find this whole explanation quite interesting... I can't wait to see how it plays into the plot.
Admittedly, you probably could have explained it more gradually, or at a different time, but for something as complex as this we'll probably understand it better this way, anyway.

Haha. But Purrloin has such a low encounter rate, it's not FAIR. 
Also, I'm really glad I'm not playing my Nuzlocke by the dupes-clause, because I ended up with two Darumakas and a Sandile in between Castelia and Nimbasa. >_>
D'aww, it's okay to be bad at explaining things. Honestly, I dread having to explain stuff because I tend to over-explain for fear of under-explaining... Anyone who reads mine will probably complain at me for badly placed, unnecessary blocks of text, lol. And honestly, because I read pretty quickly, even the panels with just your character (drawing a blank on the name and I'm in my Messages thing so I can't check DX) talking weren't all that bad. It doesn't particularly detract from the overall storytelling, I think.

They're not 'rare', exactly, but it's pretty unlikely by Nuzlocke rules (although you know I've seen a ton of 'lockes with Purrloins... it's very mysterious... just like how common female starters are... *narrows eyes at Nuzlocke community* hmmm... XD). They just have a low encounter rate compared to other Pokemon. Purrloin, on Route 2, is a 20% chance, as opposed to Patrat and Lillipup, both of whom have 40%. And yeah, their defense isn't all that great. >_> focus sash for the win!

Hm, maybe I'm just lucky. My sister was shocked quite often when I was moaning that I got something when I hoped for something else, and the thing I found was usually a rare one. For example: I got tynamo while I wanted... I don't remember, a swoobat?
Actually, when I played a Ruby version I got a female Torchic as a starter. Maybe it's not really that uncommon (but I wanted a male back then...)

Might've been Wellspring Cave (off of Route 3) that you missed a Woobat then. I know some people end up with Roggenrolas instead (which are pretty useful pokemon themselves). I myself was lucky enough to secure a Woobat, and he recently evolved. Although unfortunately he usually has a type disadvantage of some kind :/ Flying has a lot of weaknesses, and Dark-type moves are pretty common, especially at lower levels. I don't know if he'll be staying on my team for good or not... I got another Fly-er in a Pidove (now Tranquill) so we'll just have to see.

Never? Huh. I caught one in both Black and B2 I think. I have a thing for catching the first bird of the game and keeping it for my entire run. As a result I really don't like when people bash Pidove or Pidgey or any bird in between. (I was lucky enough to stumble upon a female Pidove in Black, before I knew of the hideous face mask the male unfezant gets. It's just so weird, agh XD ...even though I love the birds I have to admit they're a bit weird sometimes haha)
