Description
This is my entry for the IFX Monthly Challenge: A Storm Rising. My idea for the challenge? The world awakens to a massive ring shaped UFO (ringworld) that completely encompasses our entire planet- First Contact on a global scale.
This is the moment when unmanned drones are launched for surveillance operations.
I wish I had more time to play with it, though thats the beauty of deadlines- submit what you've got and learn from it.
Software used:
Photoshop
+
My imagination
Enjoy.

Ooh, that idea of a ring-shaped UFO is inspiring~ I love it! I wish there was a piece which showed the whole scale though...

Alien ringworld swallowing whole Earth as First Contact.
Well. That's a movie I would go to see
- and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be the only one.
Very interesting idea and great execution.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm looking to know more about background design. Because I focused on characters to much before, study of backgrounds have been neglected. I usually feel overwhelmed at the thought BGs. Slowly getting better, but I still need help.

Sorry for delay in replying dude. I've been pretty busy this month. Have you read andrew loomis creative illustration? or even any of his books? They're a great source of knowledge to learn from. I'm working on a tutorial at the moment. Probably won't be ready for another month or two, but I'm going to be sure to cover alot of ground from planning through to finished detailing. It'll be a good learning curve for me to hopefully be able to help others

Yeah. I just reread the description and am reminded of a dream I had. It wasn't dissimilar from this idea. If you ever decide to elaborate on this as a story then send me a link.
