From a narrative stand point here, creating emotion through contrast between the neutral/cool colors of the room inside and the organic warm colored area outside is spot on. You can tell how calm and safe the scientists feel as they continue doing their research in front of the dangerous and aggressive zombies only showing just a hint of unease. I'm not sure if the concept is specifically for a scene or just a general setting shot but it is successful at explaining the vantage point of the viewer aligning them with the perspective of the two researchers and explaining that the zombie situation is currently being contained/simulated in a supermarket like setting.
Just something I noticed is since you have an open ceiling and create a nice clean divide using the tinted glass should the glass on the entrance door to the side have a hint of that yellow/orange color to match as well? I realize this is a conceptual piece though and that this observation is not something necessary to contribute to the overall visual story here. Your concept pieces not only show off your crazy good skills but also your ability to provide a ton of relevant plot information in a natural way. I really enjoyed looking at your work, it's helping me closer examine aspects of my own designs!

Hey, thanks for your analysis of my concept illustration. It's always interesting for me to hear how other people interpret my work. I prefer not to give too much away nowadays in my descriptions in order to let my illustrations do their work 
I did initially have the entrance door with tinted glass, but I was also planning my 2nd piece, The Market, at the same time (in my head that is) which is set immediately outside of this clean room. If you're able to look at The Market you'll see it made sense to have only the Zombie pens with tinted glass as to differentiate from the clean rooms.

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up aSPECIALROOM to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.
Now send this to ten other pictures on this one site, and she will haunt someone else who doesn't. This isn't fake. apparently, if u copy and paste this to ten comments in the next ten minutes u will have the best day of ur life tomorrow. u will either get kissed or asked out, if u break this chain u will see a little dead girl in your room tonight. in 53 mins someone will say i love you or im SORRY

Ha ha, I'd rather go back to working at Walmart or McDonald's than work next to a bunch of screaming zombies that want to rip me apart! Well... OK, maybe not, but still!
In all seriousness, this is a beautifully-crafted scene. The stark contrast between the calm work environment and the apocalyptic infected zone makes for a fascinating concept.
