Further down the tunnels they started to come across solitary creatures crouching in various nooks and crannies. As they walked by the creatures reared up and struck threatening poses, hissing angrily, but they did not attack. In the semi-darkness at their feet Alishia could just make out dark spherical objects.

"These are the common-folk among the men-under-the-mountain." her guide explained. "As reptilian beings the differences between their male and female individuals can be hard to discern. These females guard the egg they produce every year while their mates search for food. As commoners they do not have fancy nest areas. Little more than a bare rock floor where they can sleep and tend their egg. The upper class members of their community have more elaborate dwelling places, as you will soon see ... "
