Description
"Name the falls after YOU?" Katherine laughed as her porters pushed and twisted Anna's bound body into the barrel, shoving her head out the hole they had carved into the side. "Nonsense! I brought you on this expedition because I needed your father's grant money to fund it all and he refused to give me even one dollar unless I let you tag along. To further your dreams of playing the part of an explorer and seeing Africa. Well, you'll see more than you bargained for my dear. The falls ahead are several stories high, and will be named after ME. The third geological formation to be named after me I might add. What you play at being, I actually am; an explorer (and a great one at that). No pampered brat is going to cheat me out of a spectacular find like this, even if you were the one to stumble across it. I'll compose a nice letter to your father of course explaining how you fell overboard and your body was never found. Ta-ta!"Anna plead vigorously for release, but it was no use. The porters added some sandbags to the bottom of the barrel to keep it upright in the water, ensuring Anna a spectacular view of the falls as she approached it. Then they carefully lowered the barrel into the water and shoved it away. Carried by the current, it bobbed downstream towards the roaring waterfall. Anna twisted in her bonds frantically as the falls loomed ever closer ...

Oh this is brilliant. The whole going over the falls in a barrel bit with a DiD twist.

Hmmm. Now I'm envisioning her in the barrel underwater with a set of swim goggles and a snorkel that's juuuuust reaching the air ...

Haha, great story and fun picture, you put a great spin on a gravity peril that is hardly utilized anymore - who doesn't love big waterfall? Okay, maybe Anna doesn't...

Thanks! Yes, despite some technical errors I think it turned out well. And yes, Anna certainly does not like waterfalls one bit at the moment.

Thanks! Yes, it's indeed a scary situation. Maybe she survives the plunge. Maybe the barrel gets snagged on a tree branch instead. Maybe she's only dreaming this.

Thanks! As usual the story just popped into my head when I saw the finished pic.

Probably would work better if her head was coming out the top of the barrel too.

True, and my first thought was to do it that way. But then when I was selecting a barrel from my run time to use I noticed one with a hole in the side and thought 'Hmmmm. Interesting variation.' and went with that. I had to make the barrel quite large to get her to fit in it even when I folded her legs to their natural limit. In hindsight I'm not sure it works as good as if I'd had her head sticking out the top of a normal sized barrel. It's unusual enough from the norm that it might throw off the overall effect.

Though the water and waterfall look not so believable, the idea of "Sheep in the barrel" fully compensated it. I appreciate how you can make a whole story using only 2-3 figures and 5-10 lines of text. Conceptual works are interesting regardless of technical side.

Not so believable? Bummer! I had hoped they looked fairly good (what with the rocks and all). Still, I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for the kudos on my story-telling efforts. Half the enjoyment I get is adding the stories to my pics.

The problems is that the water looks rather blue textile than liquid. It's more or less OK for calm water but looks strange for waterfall or another place where the water show its liquid nature The barrel is much better - "irregular" texture makes it look very natural.
Story adds some enjoyment and also "saves" the work. When you see just render with no story or even short caption, I rate it mainly by concept (which may remain unclear) and technical side (which is quite demanding). When I see an original story, the objective of the image is just to illustrate the story so even the simple scene is enough.

Hmmmm. Ok, I can see that. My run time doesn't have many water props in it. An oversight that I should correct. Your rating system is quite fair, and much like mine.

If the artist is close-minded, I don't waste my time on him. If he's open-minded, I just say directly what I see and think. Don't like to waste our time on overestimated ratings and their discussions
