Description An arriving transport slows down as it reaches it's destination; an enormous space city orbiting a distant planet.

Another fairly old piece, one of the last I painted with a mouse. This was an experiment in bringing multiple mediums together.

Drawn in PS 7 - Simple block created for station, planetscape drawn from photo ref, arriving craft scanned in pencil sketch that was then painted up. Original res 6250x1800

Someone like you's gotta have a ton of patience to go through all that. But hey...that patience paid off. I went to your site VisionAfar.com yesterday, and am currently wondering why you haven't put the rest of your work up. I've never seen 3-D work look so realistic. Ever. I really do envy your talent.

-if you have the time, would you be so kind as to post a tutorial
on how you go about executing these pieces?

it would really be appreciated.

It's difficult to explain what I do in a tutorial as I tend to just "paint my ass off" until the image is completed. I do have a couple of process images over at [link] that may help out a bit.

Best,
G.

Your art work is a bench mark for all other digital artists. It is kind of sad and amazing at the same time since other wanna be's will see your work and go "Wow... maybe someday I could do that" and then they're "Wow, everything I make sucks in comparison."

Just saying that as great as you are, it is both inspiring and daunting at the same time.

Funny you should say that. I just started playing Freelancer, and I, too, was reminded of it immediately upon looking at this gorgeous image. I can imagine trade lane gates in the middle distance.

But on to the image. Possibly even moreso than the previous images you've released here, this one really gives a sense of "I am there." Can't really put it into words properly, but for me the degree of presence is strong. Great color scheme too.

yeah lol, i used to use the eagle though. equipped with 2 DIAMOND BACKS and 2 tizona del cids, sun slayer torpedo (i think it was, hard to get can only get at one base) 2 CERBERUS , level 10 heavy fighter sheild and the best mines i could get . i was a heavy rogue fighter against tonnes of great players, i ended up having games of 3 on one, me being the one being attacked by 3 , that was fun,, but cus i explored everywhere, had everything. became too good of a fighter, there was no challenge , noone could beat me, and noone was game enough to fight me after a while , so i quit. and lost my character n all, but hey, it was fun for a time ^__^ my kills score was 90,000 kills and my deaths 86. most being when i had a stupid small ship trying to do diamond runs and having mean ppl attacking and killing me. hehe. oh well.. they got killed after i got my ship ^_-. enough babling tho

still this is an uber cool peice of work

That's not a Hammerhead, that's a Piranha!

I agree with novispoon, incredibly lifelike. I'm thinking it's the lighting on the station.

Big fan of all your painting man, its amazing what you've been able to do with just the mouse. I love the detail here and the colors are simply amazing - though I do wish you'd release these at their full reso . Absolute fav.
