Ancient manuscripts hint at the being that resides deep under the surface of a distant planet, in the dark ocean that have never seen the light of cold, dead stars. Writings are very inconsistent, but most of them consider this being a source of all plagues and diseases. The testimony of one of the participants of the disgusting ritual that was conducted in one of the branches of that abandoned mine tells us that they were preparing for "the Culling", they let the "joyful influence" of their deity "feast upon the worthy" and were promised "the strange rebirth in it's rotting core". Most of the insane, coughing and putrescent "acolytes" were shot by the police for their own good, and that madman that told them this nonsence later killed himself in his cell. Clearly, this was just a case of group psychosis, and the outbreak of an unknown disease that happened in a nearby village and was covered in recent reports is just a flu.
