I absolutely needed this!
Can you do a quick tutorial for shading water and making reflections? Your work with water, especially on the pictures below, is great!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
And this is a great idea, I definitely could make a tutorial on how I prefer to deal with rivers and water streams. Thanks for the idea as well! I will do this in a few days.

You make it look so easy! I'm pretty horrible at perspective, even after taking a couple classes. My brain just doesn't seem to wrap around it well.

Keep up the good work. ^^

Thanks for sharing this! I like your explanations, and your breakdown of blocking it in to refining it. I'm definitely going to give drawing a landscape a try sometime with your tips I shy away from background stuff because it usually intimidates me

Thanks for a nice comment! Feels great to know that you might be using some of these tips when you're painting =]
And by the way, most of us are good at some skils and bad at others. For example, I feel like you're much superior than me in lineworks and character drawing =]
It takes a lot of practice and learning to get used to new subjects and techniques.

Perspective is hard to learn, but when you learn it it becomes easier, just a tought amount of work which requires patience.

SciFiConceptArt [2017-09-18 08:11:54 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the tutorial!
I watched so many landscape tutorials on youtube but you explained everything important in these few sentences!!
I always make the mistake, that I add to many details in my digital paintings (and maybe its because I paint traditionally photorealistic and try to paint photorealistic on a digital canvas but thats not working)

To conclude: Your tutorial is clear structured and includes so many tips. If you have fun doing tutorials like this... I say: keep up your work

Edit: I have noticed a little village next to the river on the right side... is it right or is it only my perception?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AntonKurbatov In reply to SciFiConceptArt [2017-09-18 19:06:14 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for a nice comment!

Details always tend to ruin the painting if applied too early, so the best idea is to work with the nice process like composition-colors- shadows-lights-fixes and only then details.

Yes, it's really a village It's easier to see on the painting itself:

Just a fun element I added thinking that perhaps someone could find it. And you did, congrats!
