Description
Hi everyone! While painting the previous artwork ( antonkurbatov.deviantart.com/a… ) I decided to record the process in form of a little tutorial on most important stages of the process. People often ask me to do some tutorial about landscape painting, so here it isThe stages are more visible if you open the painting directly =]

This is so interesting! There's something so amazing for people at my level to see the process of art as advanced as yours! I'm going to try to learn from this to improve myself. Thanks for taking the time to make this!

Thanks for posting! It looks great <3
How you start and progress your art makes sense to me! I think that lighting is difficult, but it's doable. The thing is you really have to actively think about it to get it right - and not be a lazy ass. I LOVE that lighting has so much impact on the interpretation of the viewer... I'm just starting to use that in my art I'm truly happy to start more technical art stuff
I love that you're so fond of mushrooms, they immediately create a beautiful atmosphere~!

Thanks! Yes, the lighting is so much important it can make all the difference, as the first and second stage shows. Totally different feeling! I'm glad it made you think more about the lighting application in your own art, this is nice and this is what I made this process for - to help people improve.
Yep, I have some strange obsession of mushrooms in my art for some reason I think it reminds me of long walks in the forest I made with my relatives when I was a kid searching for mushrooms to use as a food
It's like a fantasy adventure

Wow I'm surprised that you got your mushroom obsession from your childhood. Although when I think about it, it also makes sense
As a kid I also went walking in a forest and if I was lucky I found m&ms or other chocolate candy on the roots of trees. My parents told me that the forest gnomes put them there xD

This is a much more strange findings than mushrooms. I would think that something's really wrong with the place and never eat these little candies. It looks like a cheese in a mousetrap!

This is really helpful, thank you so much for sharing it! I have my problems with painting digital landscapes, they're always looking dreary and without depth when I start...so I'm giving up quickly. I mostly work black and white...do you think working with colours would be better to get a more satisfying result?

Hi, thanks for a nice comment! I really glad this is helpful. About depth: it actually helps to work with black and white value paintings first so you can concentrate on value gradations first and all the details later. Painting in values is most important, since colors can be easily changed in digital, while values make depth more clearly visible. So I vote for value practice!
