I think this is an excellent landscape/portrait. The clouds and dramatic lighting gives a sense of dark undercurrents.

the posture realllly bothers me at this angle. probably because i hate my own, which is horrible. ugh. moving on
there's a few different things going on in this picture. while there's also obviously a human subject there's also the boat (?) and that... thing. then there's the background where you see somethign else with more boats going on. AND THEN there's even a stormy looking cloud to top it off. i do love how every shade in this picture has something else in the picture of the same shade to match. it makes the picture feel a bit more complete.
though perhaps not your best in some ways (i still dont yet know how) this really does make someone think, which is a good thing. it means you've created a shot that MAKES the person look at it in depth, which is quite an amazing thing.

Thanks again, I think what's bothering you is the tension, there are no straight lines, only diagonal and curves and this creates an odd feeling for the viewer, or you might not like the burnt out boats in the background that look geometric, I know I don't.

the contrast is great... the composition is very good with the line of the rope leading the eyes between the boat and the boy...
