An interesting and innovative effect that I haven't seen before, laid out beautifully in a well-structured and easy-to-understand tutorial. A very nice addition the space artists' genre!

Now, blue is probably one of the better colours to 'enhance', but it would pose a problem if the actaul planet was blue

Well, actually it wouldnt. If you click on the blue channel, it turns grey, and you can see all the sharp nasty places on your image that makes it look bad. If the image was blue, it would just enchance it, wouldnt disturb it unless it was light blue. Test it out
