Woot woot, finally posted something! X'D I wasn't able to draw much at the beginning of summer due to several factors that all kinda hit me at once (nasty eye strain, art block, etc.) but I finally finished this! And I'm actually pretty happy with it, look at that skirt!The general idea behind this drawing was just that I wanted to draw something peaceful yet sad with Lapis Lazuli. It's been interesting working on these larger drawings, like this and Beneath the City , since I've had to experiment with new lighting each time. I'm hoping to do more larger drawings with some original characters. :>
Also, friendly reminder that I just started an Instagram account for art and cat pictures!

Finished June 27 2017, and made digitally in Sketchbook Pro with a Wacom Intuos tablet.

What a beautiful picture of Lapis! The way she's drawn is just so perfect, and I love the luminescent blues in the pool beneath her foot and in her skirt! The purple in the background and near the outskirts of the pool are beautiful additions, and I just love the starry background! And Lapis' face and hair! In my eyes, they're drawn perfectly (and I can't get over how well the blues and the purples blend), and what more could I say about her outfit! I love this piece, and this is definitely heading into my Favorites!

This is somewhat very beautiful. I like the colors you used (and those sparkling stars). That contrast between reddish and blueish tones just got very well, and I also like how you cared for some transition here when looking at her character, that reflects some violet.
That posture looks quite well, too - and in my eyes has something passionate on it.

Thanks! Her skirt is lit from below, so I did my best to create a subsurface scattering effect.

Haha no, the black part around her hips is actually part of the design above the skirt. In the more simplified style of the show its supposed to look like an upside down triangle, so if connected with the triangle on her top it would create a diamond shape. :>
