Personality: Serif is the strong, silent type. He keeps it pleasant during business hours but maintains a sense of quiet power that can be almost unnerving. He'll beat you to a pulp if he has to, so don't try anything funny. He's always looking out for the ladies~ Working in such a high energy environment kinda wears him out but he is okay with it. It's an interesting job and he spends a lot of the day sleeping. He's not book-smart, but he's perceptive, alert, rational, analytical, systematic, precise, etc. (when he's not drunk). He's a good guy at heart, just kinda rough around the edges.

Backstory: Born in the lower levels of Junction City, Serif's mom ran off for another man and his dad ended up an alcoholic to trying to deal with it. He was never abusive, but Serif basically had to raise himself. High school was a complete drag; he had little interest in school and though he was smart enough not to hang around with the wrong crowd too much, he didn't really fit in anywhere else. He eventually graduated (with mostly C's and D's) but never even considered college. He had already started drinking at this point and gradually became a mild alcoholic himself.
He spent the next several years working odd-jobs on and off, during which he met Tar, a female Yol. As you may guess, they fell in love and she was helping him kick his drinking habit and just improving his life in general and they were super sweet and everything <3. It was during this time that he finally landed a career in bartending. But about a year into their relationship, Serif's dad died and he took it pretty hard (even though he wasn't much, he was the only family Serif had ever had) and got really drunk and got in a huge fight with Tar. He doesn't remember what he said or did, but he thinks he may have even hit her, so he sees himself as a worse person than his dad ever was. When he woke up the next morning Tar was gone and he never saw or talked to her again after that. Unsurprisingly, this combination of events had a considerably negative effect on Serif's life. He stopped going to work and spent the next couple weeks wasting away. Serif's boss and closest friend found out and did his best to help Serif out, and though Serif managed to get back up on his own feet, his boss also passed his smoking habit on to him.

Ongoing: Serif still bartends at a the same nightclub, which has gown increasingly popular over the years. He still thinks about Tar and no longer trusts himself to enough start a relationship or even make friends (he and his boss are still pretty good friends but, for the most part, they stay out of each others' lives). He only drinks when he's alone at home, but smokes whenever. He still lives in his small apartment in lower Junction City and spends most of his time working, buying stuff he needs, sleeping, or drinking/smoking. He's got a cheap little TV that he watches sometimes too. His only other item of significance is a blue/white lava lap Tar gave him. He calls it Tar and sometimes when he's drunk he'll cry and talk to it like it's her. He has enough money at this point that he could get a nicer place but he can't bring himself to leave the only place he ever felt happy in.
