There is a common stereotype that atheists are grumpy, depressed and antisocial and religious people are happy and social, which is not always true. The roles can definitely reverse, and of course not everyone in any group fits either stereotype. I’m not quite the definition of a “happy” atheist since I have several mental health disorders (which I’ve been hospitalized for several times) and my current living situation is not the best, but I still am happy a lot of the time and I definitely am happier not believing that there’s a being that will send me to a place of eternal torture after I die if I don’t follow its oppressive rules.

This stamp is also in response to the argument that you need to believe in a higher power in order to heal from trauma, which isn’t true. It’s great if belief in a higher power helps you heal, but that doesn’t mean that everyone else will heal or improve the same way as you.
