Okay so this is the first digital drawing I have EVER done
About a week ago i watched a few speed-paints and ShadowSquirrel 's slowed down speedpaint, but thats about it as far as learning how to do this so far ^_^
Colouring is so much fun! but its really hard and confusing.. I have no idea how to work SAI so any tips would be amazing!
Now, the drawing tablet! I just got my wacom Intuos (bamboo) small drawing pad, there is definitely a learning curve, but its nothing so worry about. I still haven't gotten really use to it but then again its barely been 3 days since I got it.
I put in a 'background' just because plain white looked funny... but now I will have to learn how to draw scenery in the near future!
Digital art is REAALLY fun! And its not near as easy as i thought!
Now guys, just remember this is my first digital drawing ever and I have no idea how any of this works so any advice would be great

Your first?
Awesome job for your first digital piece! Heh, if you look at my gallery, my first wasn't quite as good. Well, I suppose that's because I sucked at traditional back then too, haha.
Well, since your using SAI, I can't really offer much advice myself since I use Photoshop, and I'm still pretty much a beginner at digital art myself. xD
I guess my advice to you is to practice drawing from your tablet directly onto the program you use without sketching something by hand first. ^^

thanks! yeah i was doing that a few days ago, I think the more I draw sketches on the tablet the better i will get with controlling it
And my little plan is to get decent with digital art on SAI, then move into photoshop (i have no idea why but yeah)

ooh I like very much, light years beyond how well I can draw anything digitally or on paper. .hehe LOve the bits of whtie and how they go from in and out of focus, that's cool!! Fluttershy looks sooo cute!! Tail and mane look really nice, mane looks espeically curved. Love the shadows too, I'd say great job on everything!! ^_^

Wow, you did a fantastic job for your first digital drawing! I especially love the shading on Fluttershy's mane and tail, it looks incredibly realistic- I applaud your patience.
The only advice I have, and you don't have to take it if you don't want to, would be to add a bit more definition to her body by adding thicker lines- I've seen people do wonderful things with colored lines (Such as the ones in this piece ), but black or dark lines bring out the more cartoon-y aspects of a character (This is a lovely example ), so the decision is entirely up to you. I can't wait to see what you create next!

Man I am definitely taking your advice! I've always wanted to draw cartoon'y stuff but always ended up drawing realistic ponies
