In scraps because I don't know how to categorize this. It's a project dated back in college.

The concept was to create something with an accordion book structure. I used a scalpel and cut out shapes in blue card stock, layering over it with vellum. I chose images from popular fairy tales. The little mermaid has been cut out of the shot due to size, but you can sort of make out a cauldron, riots of tulips, and what is vaguely Cinderella running down the stairs. The tulips were inspired by Gregory McGuire's Confession of an Ugly Stepsister..

This is a picture of the project lit from behind, letting the cutouts cast their shadows over the vellum. I kept wanting to reproduce this project on a larger scale, perhaps a lampshade. I never got around to it.
