yeah, that's the real deal. Those rocks are granite and tend to be very granulated. It helps when balancing.

This photo speaks so loud for something so simple. I just can't get over it. I come across this picture something like once every 2 months by chance, and every time I see it I gotta stop what I'm doing and just gaze at it.
I also agree with you on the importance of balance. If you think about it, everything in life is balanced quite elegantly. At any one time, there is as much potential for good as there is bad, peace as there is war, and love as there is hate. It really grabs your imagination to see how humans affect the balance. Kinda like we're the x variable in the equation of life.
