I know, you used a drill, and something like a solid cylinder, put into the rock in the ground, and the one in the middle.
Or maybe not ...
Impressive anyway.

[link] Seeing as the artist did post a picture of himself making the sculpture... Don't rip on people with quality art just because all you can draw is furries.

Hahaha. Zing!
People would be wise to actually LOOK for the WIP before they make snide remarks, eh?

Woah! I'm somewhat good at rock stacking but balancing a rock on a sheer point is something that I have seldom been able to do. Nice job!

A rock of that shape can be put on balance? Just the base, the other ones I know they can be put that way (pebble beaches are great for practising that)
But a rock like that? How did you do it? I know that magicians refuse to explain their tricks, but come on, this is driving me crazy!

applecorekevin In reply to Nissun [2007-11-09 15:35:03 +0000 UTC]
the trick is patience. The rock is granite, which isn't perfectly smooth. That helps out a lot. Oh yeah... and no wind is helpful too

That must have been a pain. Having to do all of that
then be very still and try to take a picture. How many
times did it fall down on you?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
applecorekevin In reply to GouryRules [2007-11-09 15:37:14 +0000 UTC]
it took less then an hour I think and it fell down a lot.

I like the calming effect the balanced rocks have on an area. People tend to move slowly and cautiously around these towers.

It isn't. I've seen a professional rock balancer do this with pointed rocks before my very eyes. There's no smoke and mirrors, just a lot of skill.

applecorekevin In reply to can-of-corn2 [2007-10-29 22:38:11 +0000 UTC]
no actually .... it's just patience.
The rocks are granite and have small imperfections on the surface. I use those to my advantage. I have some more work here...

I've recently gotten into this myself, its quite amazing the process itself, is so primitive but it takes some real patience and gentle hands. Nice work!
