Lovely!! I always used to do this stuff with my mother any time we went out and there were a lot of rocks around It's exciting how many you can get to stay, sometimes, and sometimes, they'll stay up for a very long time if they don't defy gravity nearly as much, heh.

This is what I've been looking for to post a comment. Beautiful.
They remind me of climbing over the Southern Alps in New Zealand. The only indicators for direction were sparsely spread tiny rock cairns, dotted amongst an endless rocky landscape. Some of them were only a few pebbles high, and they were almost impossible to find in the surrounding landscape. You would have had a field day there, given a few hours and a tube of glue.

nice work.

ooh my uncle does those! he likes to leave them all over Yosemite where he works ^^ i asked him once how he did it, he said that you have to ask the rock to stand for you, appreciate it when it does and thank it after you leave it.

really? i worked in Curry Village Pizza! i bussed tables mostly but i probably rang up your orders at the window, or gave them to you at the other window, or cooked your pizza, or cut your pizza, or prepared the ingredients. lol i learned all the jobs XD

nice.... I worked at the pizza deck one year. That place is crazy. I could only handle the valley for a few months, then I had to head up to Tuolumne where things are much more mellow.

I have always loved this type of art... very interesting and zen. I respect the time and patience it takes to create something like this... and I admire the outcome.
(and thus I must fave it )

That stone looks as if it's missing it's other half. I wonder if that's why it has a lot of problem weight riding on it's back.

First off I think SolarMew is an ass-hat, that aside, this is really quite impressive, whether legitimate or otherwise it's still a beautiful piece of work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

applecorekevin In reply to taika-kim [2007-11-09 15:18:06 +0000 UTC]

thanks, I'm glad you appreciate it. The stone is granite so it's got many little imperfections in it. It's much easier to balance then river stones or something like that. By the way, nice gallery of various types of work. Variety always impresses me.

Mmmyep. Looks like it to me. I don't balance rocks, but I'd think it staying up would mean it's somewhat stable. Wonder what happens when the winds blows...? =o

applecorekevin In reply to Psychosis-Syndrome [2007-11-01 15:35:18 +0000 UTC]

that piece stood up for almost a week. the area was pretty sheltered from the wind, but like everything else, this too must fall no matter how wind protected.

That cannot be honestly just balanced. If so, you deserve a job in the circus, tight-THREAD walking. A tightrope would be absolutely no problem.
