I think the odds are good. Sakurai's been specifically asked about Mewtwo, though given Mewtwo has some details about him hidden until the movie reveal, can't give a straight answer.

In other interviews on character selection, specifically for Pokemon, they said part of it was "Which Pokemon are hot - which ones are in the movies right now?" - Mewtwo's new film this weekend is a pretty good indicator. The game will be released before the next Pokemon movie comes out, so Mewtwo and Genesect are in the most recent film, which would give them preference.

Additionally, just about every major online polling - meaning those that get more than just a few replies - have resulted in Mewtwo being the #1 desire for people to see return.

I'd say right now I would put his odds at 85%.

Wow! This is fantastic, the colours work so well together!
It would be lovely to see him in smash again, and with the whole movie and episode special coming out it boosts the possibility, since it would be good to promote it, like what they did with Lucario in brawl. But I don't think they will.
