My smooth icons are all made in Adobe Flash CS6, and I export each frame as a png(exporting directly as a gif in flash makes it super low quality), then batch convert them in Photoshop to gifs, and finally put them all together in a gif software called unFreeze. Flash smooths the lines for me when I export them, so it doesn't have the same look as if you were to draw everything in pixels.

The only reason the frames are so smooth is because since it's scaled down so much, it's hard to tell the small choppy details. It's also because I've been animating for a long time so I got better over the years.

It doesn't look like a flash animation in the slightest, but it's harder to tell how something was made when it's been compressed down to a mere 50 x 50 pixels.
