how was that quick? it would take me twenty hours and it wouldn't look as awesome as this!!!!

Not quick, 'quink' it is a type of ink produced by a company called parker. Its a ink that if made wet separates into blue and yellow, very versatile but a bit hard to work with.

I like how you managaged to get the many different colours by only using quink and guache. Very interesting for a quick sketch.

mm, not as much as you think. I had reference. Its a straight sketch drawing, and its nice to work quickly with the medium.

hee, glad i could inspire! be aware though the ink i used isnt waterproof and is actually one colour. Quink ink is made by Parker (www.parkerpen.com) and its the black one. It separates into two/three ish colours: a yellow, a green and a blue. All colour variations are achieved with just that. Other inks (especially windsor and newton ones) will not react the same way.

how does it change color if it is black??? I thought black was a additive color that used pigment to achieve a darker tone or shade?

I forgot to mention that I've lightened it using white gouache. you can also try lifting the ink with some thin bleach, it gives some great orangey yellow effects.

I do not know, to be honest! I think its made of several different pigments. Its meant for cartridge pen refills, for writing rather than painting. All I know is that its very interesting to work with!

technique with the ink is awesome!!! is the face ink too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

apricotmuffins In reply to jadwar01 [2009-11-23 22:42:53 +0000 UTC]

I used white gouache as well, to bring in highlights. In truth, the face is rather overworked. the gouache will take on the colour of the ink as its reactivates with water. which is where the pale blues are coming from.
