AG trophy #71

We are finally caught up to the present with my Neopets AG entries, so no more old spam for a while! Not only that, but it’s a videogame reference!

Neopets recently had a war event, where you chose one of six factions and then fought in the Battledome to rack up wins for that team. I was on the nerd team a.k.a. the Seekers, because scientific research is awesome, and I was really happy with the designs for the fighters on our team. Despite the fact that the event had barely any story, a lot of really interesting character designs and concepts were introduced during this war, and I’m always going to think that the Seekers had some of the coolest. So here’s our Assistant Scientist going up against the creepy twins from the zombie team, the Awakened. (The Neopets Team was constantly making pop culture references throughout the plot, including cake jokes, so they were pretty much begging for me to make that title reference. )

I liked your artwork, and I too am a Seeker! Hooray! I do have to ask you, what kind of reference were the cake jokes from? They were hilarious, but I don't know where TNT got them from. Any ideas?

Thanks, glad you like it! *fellow Seeker highfive*

Yeah, the cake jokes were from the videogame Portal. "The cake is a lie" was a huge internet meme back when the game came out.

Looks awesome with the green and pink light! The atmosphere and pose and expression of this scientist is amazing and fitting, too. Great job!

Heh, I joined the Awakened, because Lanie and Lillie are awesome, and almost everything they say is comedy gold. xD We probably got last place, because no good battlers joined us, and we killed our boss last, though.
The Seekers had awesome character designs. My favorite was the girl Kacheek with the robot. I liked ours, too, though.

I dunno. I think the story was one of the few things TNT got right in this thing, along with the amazing artwork and the videos. Most people disagree with me, but most people were probably expecting carbon copies of the Meridell/Maraqua plots. I wasn't, so I wasn't really let down. Anyway, I think part of the reason the story "seems" weak is because this entire premise is set up differently from past wars. In past wars, you had two sides, with black and white heroes and villains that drive the conflict. The first Meridell war was probably the only exception to this.
This war was different, in that it had no blatantly good or blatantly evil faction. If you read the Neopedia articles and paid attention to the videos, any one of the factions could be seen as good or evil for some reason. For example, yes, the Awakened are undead monsters, but they also arguably have the most innocuous reason for wanting the obelisk (cake).

That's my 2c, though. You can disagree.

Haha, I agree; Lanie and Lillie's dialogue is probably the funniest of all the faction leaders. xD I don't really care who wins, but hopefully everyone will get nice participation trophies. Though I know I'm not going to get the best ones because the bosses were too difficult for my battle pet, and I didn't have the patience to lose 300 times to the final boss, so I've only got the achievements/progress bars completed for the first four waves.

Haha, the Kacheek with her robot was one of my favorites too! I did like seeing pretty much all the characters, though. The Ghostly Knight and the Unchained Monster were pretty cool; I liked how the latter looked more like an overgrown stuffed toy.

You make a good point. I don't really disagree with you; I think it was just that the factions were set up with such great backstories and introductory videos that it left a lot of us hoping there'd be something more along the lines of actual character interaction. I have no qualms with how everything was set up, though; TNT did an excellent job with the articles and videos, and I also liked the fact that there was no clear good vs. evil choice. So, I think they did a really good job with what they gave us; I just wished they had taken it even further.

I do like Kanrik's "knicker" line and when Lambert gets glomped by his teammates, too, though.

There were a few I really liked. Like that big Tonu wizard, the Amateur Insider and her Purse of Doom, and Martha the gigantic Magma Kau with the big hammer.

Well, you never know. I know a lot of people on the boards think that TNT will pick it up again as a plot when they get through all the annual events in the first half of the year. After all, after the Altador Cup, there really isn't anything besides the Haunted Faire, GMC, and Advent Calendar, and TNT ran TFR through all of that.
Besides, I feel like TNT has pretty much become The Scrappy ([link] ) of their own site recently, so they need to have something soon.

Seekers are awesome! *highfive* Thanks!

Haha, sorry it wasn't; that would have been great. Myst is a brilliant game. (Riven is my favorite though.)
