I initially paired them up because of their contrast (a priest and a dark mage). Their dynamic grew even deeper and I loved it.

I've done a few plays of Awakening. Libra's one of my favorites and he's had different fates every time. Β Β
My first playthrough - Libra... died. Β I didn't understand the recruitment mechanic and he got killed by Plegian soldiers while still in Ally mode. Β
I had a playthrough at some point where I shipped him with Cordelia - but borked up on recruiting Severa, so I didn't get Severa in that game. Β Despite them being a "quick supporting couple," I found their supports meh.
I supported him with Lissa in one file and LOVED that. Β The supports were okay - the ending one was cute, but I liked the pairing mostly because of the stuff I imagined around it. Β My headcanon for the ship is that, as a pair of healers / combat medics, they bonded over their work on the battlefield and in long hours in the Β healer's tent. Β The ending for them is adorable. Β They run an orphanage together and Lissa becomes "one of the kids." Β I think she'd like that kind of life. Β Also, having Owain's theatric-laden father-supports with Libra is just fun. Β Β
I supported him with Nowi in an unfinished game. Β I loved his supports with her, so much emotion, Β but I still feel skeevy about actually marrying them because my brain thinks of unfortunate "pedo-priest" stuff with friggin' Nowi. Β (I actually have this whole headcannon for that in which Libra is asexual and Nowi has to convince him to help her to make Nah for the sake of saving her race).Β
My last playthrough I supported him with my avatar, because... man, I just love the guy, and had to grit my teeth and overlook the whole "Anastasia is bad at art!" thing. Β I love the Libra/Robin ship for a lot of the same reasons I love the Chrom/Robin ship: Servants/chosen of Naga being with "Grima who isn't Grima/doesn't want to be Grima." Β Β
I've gotten all the supports with Tharja up to A-level with Libra, but refuse to marry them because I don't want Tharja awakening the poor guy's darkness and corrupting him. Also, with his background, dealing with her as an abusive mother to Noire is just... extra-sad. Β Β

Thanks, I'm glad you like the drawing! (Even if it's not that shippy, heh.) It is pretty fun to see their contrast; I like the interactions between characters who are opposites but have things in common. A proper Libra/Henry support would also have been nice to see.

I think it's more of the general popularity of the whole bishounen aesthetic in Japanese pop culture than something specific to Fire Emblem. FE just happens to use that style, as do a lot of JRPGs.
Libra seems to be specifically based on Lucius though. So in this case it's a direct shoutout to an older character.

I had Libra merry Panne and then Tharja married Henry in my first playthrough. I totally ship Libra and Panne for reals because they have a cute connection. Tharja and Henry is just plain terrifying and I almost cried myself to sleep out of pity for poor daughter... TwT

Haha yeah I feel sorry for Noire no matter who Tharja marries, but Henry would definitely double the havoc that poor family would experience. Though having the two dark mages together does seem fitting.
I like Panne/Libra as well! Panne is one of my favorite characters to begin with, since I like her aloofness and sense of honor and her willingness to forgive despite everything she's suffered. I also like the fact that Panne ends up giving the orphanage children bunny rides, haha. I definitely could ship it but unfortunately Libra's not that useful for fathering Yarne, so Maribelle won out. (I also like Libra/Nowi somehow, possibly because I kept having them fight together.)
Yeah, all the ships. Most of them work so well that it's hard to pick a single favorite haha.

I just recently married Lissa to KellamΒ because I want to get all the non-married-to-chrom supports... I feel bad for the poor guy. He has to do all the chores while Lissa just loafs around.
Then there's Virion and Maribelle. That, just, no. Theirs is an unhappy marriage. Virion, though prideful, is whipped while Maribelle controls every aspect of their lives.
Just, no.
I kinda want to marry Gregor to Panne this time around. I liked what happened between him and Cherche before, so I'm hoping it wont be too different.

I haven't gotten around to getting most of Kellam's supports yet, but I just read the Lissa/Kellam one and I agree with you. Kellam deserves better... and I'll figure out who as soon as I actually remember to use him. <_<
Yeah, I wouldn't pair those two either, although I do like that Maribelle's words cause Virion to do some self-reflection and questioning of whether he's the kind of person he'd consider honorable. But I don't like to pair Virion with anyone to be honest... and the same for Tharja... which is probably why I find Tharja/Virion amusing and fitting even though the union would probably just reinforce all of their flaws, haha. (And is rather useless for Noire.)
I find all of Gregor's supports pretty hilarious but I'm not that fond of Gregor/Panne because I feel like Panne is uncomfortable around him and wants to hold him at arm's length. Gregor/Cherche is probably my favorite Gregor pairing though; it helps that Cherche is one of my favorites as well.

I actually put Tharja with Fredrick because he had this crazy uninfluenced devotion to her, and then when Noire comes around he goes from supper effective butler to an submissive Dad, his reaction to that is one of the funniest things in game for me.

Heh, that is rather amusing. Tharja's supports tend to be quite good at exposing backstory and I ended up finding her a rather entertaining character, but I feel bad about pairing her with anyone, just like with Virion... so it pretty much solved all my problems when I realized that she and Virion could support, haha. I find it fitting since he's the type to fawn idiotically and she's the type to enjoy having a willing slave, plus their support ends up benefiting others in the camp, so it's a practical solution.
