They probably hate me, right? I mean, they wouldn't forgive me no matter how much I begged, right? How come I couldn't just tell them... If I could have just been braver... Maybe we wouldn't have had to leave things like that... Why... ...Why......

Nov. 11 - Remembrance Day.

Thanks to FE:Heroes, I've sorta gotten a little more interested in the series. Nino was one of the first ones I got, and I found her immediately adorable and charming.
....then I read her backstory and her strengths in game. The fact that so few players find her a good character 'cause of how late she shows up, and how so many people IN GAME just make her so much more miserable.

...Whenever I get around to playing this game at some point... this poor l'il cinnamon bun is going STRAIGHT to my team, and I'm making *damn sure* she doesn't die.

nooooooooooo

Nino's single ending was the best. In fact I may just stop shipping her altogether (for that and... other reasons).

I like Nino's single ending the best also, but I also like Lugh and Raigh being her sons, so... I tend to accept Jaffar/Nino as the most likely pairing according to canon, but I like to think that the cemetery visit happened at some point anyway.

Ironically enough I don’t really ship anything in this series; there may be something about all the death and personal issues going on that makes it hard for me to see fluffy romance in it. Well, except for in the dating sim spinoff. *cough*kidding, I actually do like FE13*cough*

RisingSunfish In reply to aquanut [2013-12-24 20:48:40 +0000 UTC]

I don't ship for fluff-- all my ships have a bit of darkness and/or turmoil in them along with the good stuff, and that's what I like (even if it means I'm usually seeing a touch of angst in pairings most people take for granted as fluffy!). I mean, with all the death and betrayal and whatnot going on, that's when support and intimacy are the most important, whether that be friendship or romance or both.

I figure Lugh and Raigh have to be born either way, but somehow Nino raising them (for a little while) on her own seems more fitting. But I guess they talk about both their parents dying at the same time, so eh.

Ah yes, excellent point, that is when support and relationships are most important. I suppose I should have mentioned that I... almost exclusively ship for fluff haha *pushes cutesy ship art into corner* But it is good to see shippers willing to deal with the bad along with the good.

Well, her paired endings do mention bounty hunters splitting up her and her husband. There's room to interpret Jaffar's as that she stayed with the kids on her own for a bit before disappearing in search of him, I suppose.

Oh, I forgot about Pent and Louise. They're determinedly fluffy. Fluffy even in the face of death and destruction.

Thanks for your comment, I'm glad it had an effect. Yeah, her backstory is definitely one of the saddest in the game.

Nino's one of my most fave mages in the entire series... her backstory is really tearjerking. Even her Β "mother" who she so had put trust on to turned out be one that wished her instant death. Almost shaking how she winded up a long and heartwrenching way to where she is now.Β

The colors are really mellow yet warm and the details really set the melancholic mood... Great job!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

aquanut In reply to IndyGoNagaretton [2013-11-21 15:33:46 +0000 UTC]

Nino is definitely one of my favorites as well (I think she's actually my second favorite in FE7? it's hard for me to pick, if it's not her then it's probably Florina). It breaks my heart how badly she wanted to please her "mother", and how she kept hoping for that parental love and approval that Sonia was incapable of giving... I love her optimistic and trusting nature and how she held onto that through it all, and it's tragic how she still probably feels a great deal of regret over her stepbrothers' deaths and longs to have saved those familial bonds she valued so highly.

Thank you, I'm glad you get that sense from the colors; I wanted this to have a melancholy feel, so I'm very happy that comes across!

Sooner or later the world will do something to everyone that takes away their smile. Whether you can get it back or not is another question...

Everyone needs to observe this, sit back and think about all those they owe where we are today to... all the people we called heroes and villains, as that one's a pretty grey area...

It's very pretty and it really does make me feel a bit sad ;;. The colo scheme is very well-chosen. And somehow it really does make me think of those battlefield cemeteries I visited when I was younger (maybe because of the simplicity of the tombstones and the overall feeling of the picture).

I've learned about poppies being used in Canada and other countries as a symbolde for Remembrance Day only some years ago and I think it's really fitting.

I was considering replaying FE7 recently since I forgot to give her copy back to my friend last time I saw her and your pictures really make me want to do so ^^.

aquanut In reply to Pastel-Cloud [2013-11-14 01:37:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you, I'm glad you like the color scheme and that it was able to convey a sorrowful tone. I was somewhat unsure if I should link this to Remembrance Day because this isn't exactly a realworld tribute, which would have more of a solemn, reverent tone of gratitude, but I did draw it because of the mood of the holiday, so I thought including a mention in the description would be better than leaving it out... (and I was seeing so many pocky day fanarts that I was wondering if anyone remembered this) I'm glad it reminds you of war cemeteries you've visited, because I was thinking of those when I drew the tombstones. The places I've been to have always had very simple tombstones like this... rows and rows and rows of them.

I think it's really fitting too, given how they bloomed in such multitudes after the battles in the soil churned up by war.

Heh, I'm glad my pictures can bring up some FE7 nostalgia; it's always worth replaying! I actually want to get around to (re)playing the older FEs but I need to break my addiction to FE13 which is starting to seriously annoy me haha, I'm ready to be done with it but there are always more supports to grind...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Pastel-Cloud In reply to aquanut [2013-11-14 07:42:11 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean. To be honest, it sometimes make me feel uneasy when people draw fanarts and pictures for such events (but I understand their good will so it's fine, I just ignore some stuff). And in case of Remembrance Day it can be taken as a celebration to every soldier that has fallen during any war so I guess it works. But I think it's not really perceived the same way in Europe and in countries outside of Europe that celebrate the day as well.Β

It a holiday here so of course I would remember (although sometimes people experience holidays without remembering why they are holidays so...).Β

Indeed.

Ahh, I've managed to stop playing FE13 for a while now (but that's because I got FE9 and 10 XD) but I was unlocking all the supports as well XD. I've tried all the adult S support save for MU and I was on my way to do so with the children when I stopped playing. And I ws also having fun using my favorite characters from the spot pass ones XD. FE13 is very good when it comes to replaying value. I'll probably play again sometimes in the future since I had yet to clear all the spotpass and dlc cards XD.

I think you conveyed your feelings in quite a beautiful way with tis drawing. And I agree with everything you say. In fact most of the problematic humor or stuff that rub me the wrong way are about WW2 but this can't be helped I guess.Β

Aaaah, I know what you mean! I was the same way the first time I played FE8. I actually played it with my cousin and he was the one to let a character die from the start (I think it was Moulder), then I scolded him and no one else died XD. But it was really better when I replayed it recently ahah. In my memories it was very hard and when I replayed it it wasn't that hard at all but maybe playing several FE in a row did help. And I didn't let anyone die in Shadow dragon but I forgot to recruit some characters at the beginning (so I couldn't save Tiki because of it...) so I really want to replay it... and also because I forgot most of the game somehow D:.

Yeah, if they make another game like that we are all doomed to play it forever... and it's so true for grinding XD. Once you know the mechanics, everything become quicker! And it's very nice that you can select exactly which animations you can switch. And I agree concerning the spotpass characters. It would have been nice if they had personalized design for the animations and also some text for when they level up or whatever... (or at least the dlc characters since peopel pay for them). But somehow I still have fun using them but that may be also because I had maxed up at lot of the story characters XD. (and I was giving dumb name to their weapons and paired them up with their game friends, so that it felt more like themselves).

*edit this was quite dumb of me to draw the line between Europe and other countries that celebrate it (I was mostly thinking of Belgium/France and Canada when saying that but other countries may have a different position in the matter). I suppose it is more safe to say it's not perceived as vivdly depending of the country (and, obviously, of people and their personal experience, etc).

It really is, but memorable at least... She's definitely my second-favorite magic user in the game; I wish she came earlier, but I guess that would rob you of the challenge of training her. It's impressive/bittersweet how she manages to keep projecting a cheerful and innocent attitude despite what she's been through.

She was one of my favorite characters because of how tragic her life was, and how gracefully she bore it. There was very little about Nino's story that didn't leave me crying. Your picture is truly beautiful and touching.
