Description WHOOOOOOOIE. Did I have fun with this one.

Where can I start? FUCK YES ON THIS STORYLINE. Totally amped about the pairing, the symbolism of the whole coupling. HAHAHAHAHA AH. YES.
Good times.

Really hope it works out for them in the next movie "At Worlds End", but you know. One can .only. hope. I gotta give kudos to the acting for this whole version, considering it didn't seem mutually possible in real life. Fuck. Seriously. But kiera pulled it off, as did Johnny, and for that I have been MOVED.

Ah yes. This feeling. Was thinking Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly.

"Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted Just an earth-bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone

A soul in tension that's learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

There's no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, A state of bliss
Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I"

I hope you all enjoy, was going for a wallpaper after submitting the picture itself, if you don't see it up right away.

Yar.

Really loved doing it. Done in OC.

@w@!

<3 thank you. Usually it's whatever feels right at the time, and sometimes it takes while for my cycle of that particular vibe to come back and allow me to work on an older piece like this one. You know what I mean? Pull it from within, and you can't fail! Spicy feelings may result in spicy colors, as well as peaceful and so on. : )

If you're already doing this, then move on to saturating those feelings (the colors) into something a little more clear, the colors, and the intensity required, will just sorta come naturally if it's meant to be. : )

Oh hell, I just watched this movie today. The colors are beautiful, it's so bright and modern, completely different from the time period the movie's set in. This is absolutely gorgeous, Karasu, but damn do I ever hate this pairing. XD;;;

Seriously, I love this story line. The rest of the movie was eh, but Bill Nighy and this and the ending made up for it. Seriously who saw Barbosa coming back?! RIDICULOUS. I doubt things will work in their favor but we can hope. Anyhow, I love the colors in this and all over it's just really beautiful and complete. Nice work!

aquariel In reply to mykza [2006-12-20 23:07:57 +0000 UTC]

NO KIDDING. Yeah. I didn't see him coming back either. I hear he was pretty amped about getting to, as well, so i'm curious to see what OTHER changes they're going to make in "at worlds end"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mykza In reply to aquariel [2006-12-21 20:18:44 +0000 UTC]

Well they probably get paid a crapload of money to do those movies. I'd be happy too. At World's End has a lot to do with Asia. It's a bit weird. Like, the pictures from it on the imdb, everybody is dressed as samurais.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aquariel In reply to mykza [2006-12-24 18:39:05 +0000 UTC]

I get a little touchy about americans using the asian theme a little too much, kinda kills it for me if it's not done right. Which is a lot.

But considering it POC, it may be promising. I hope. I hope I hope.

This is freakin AWESOME! I completely loved that whole scene but then I felt bad for Orlando, or Mr. Turner. But I soooo wanted to see Jack & Mrs. Swan go for it in the first one. Sooo YEAH!! Great adaptation, the colors are very psychedelic and the texture is nice and rich. Great work!!!

Beautiful, I love how you worked it. I myself hated the scene, seeing that I am madly in love with Johnny, and I was so used to the first one when his slaps in the face meant he would never get a girl...

But the way you put it is nice. !!

I love this one. I love how you painted it, with those lovely long strokes. You really brought out emotions in this. The colours bring out the mood and the concept and pose brings out the characters. You have lots of talent. You should be greatly appreciated. Well done indeed! I could have gabbed on longer about this beautiful work but I must dash!

PS. I love it how you put that Aztec gold there.... Gives the piece more depth. Do you mind if I use this as my wallpaper?

I still do. How did you stop being afraid of them, or whatever was holding you back?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

aquariel In reply to angryfisheatenbycat [2007-01-02 03:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Well, after I got out of school I was fortunate enough to have a very skilled painter push me to saturate as much as possible. I wasn't aware of just how much my pictures were lacking in so many ways until I finally got coloring and proper contrast. (In my opinion, I suppose XD).

Anyway, right. The point is you have to do more and more of the base color as much as possible XD. Avoid using a grey scale unless the work is pencil, or you'll be quick to find your work totally bland : O. When you use it enough, the intense primary color, you'll really just start to do it out of habit. : )

Ya dig ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

angryfisheatenbycat In reply to aquariel [2007-01-03 17:51:19 +0000 UTC]

Heh, its funny how we never realise how lacking pictures are until we improve them. It's kinda painful looking back at my old work... that at the time I thought was good?! and knowing that I'll do the same with my current stuff one day.

I've learnt not to use black for anything, so that's a start. Not sure what you mean about using more of the base colour though. And I guess it may just simply be getting used to the colours.

aquariel In reply to angryfisheatenbycat [2007-01-05 21:21:19 +0000 UTC]

Oh hell yeah. It's always a double take moment. But, that's really motivating too. You WILL be better. Your skills WILL improve. And it's a great guideline for other artists who will admire you, to see how you got to where you are! >_O Now if only we could weed the 'artists' out that totally rip off your work claiming it to be their own -_-.

Sigh. I mean. On one hand I can totally understand the feeling of inadequacy in the creative realm, but at some point you have to step up to the plate and give credit, or start making your own style. When I moved from, say, copying sailor moon in my youth, to my own style it was TERRIBLE. But I was so damned proud of myself it made up for that. And that made me push myself harder. And so on.

: ) I've checked out some of your stuff and ive seen some great subjects and composition. Oh man, I really love that picture of portland you have! I took a shit of shots there in the really old growth forests and to this day I can't find anything as green as there. There's something magical about that place, maybe it's the huge mushroom growing underneath them? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

angryfisheatenbycat In reply to aquariel [2007-03-10 23:13:39 +0000 UTC]

From your descriptions, it seems like that happens to you a lot. >_<'; not good. I suppose they're not much different from the modern "artists" that get someone else to put up a shelf in a gallery, and fill up a glass with water, that someone else made, and call it art; both severely lacking in any kind of creativity.

And yes, I've just started to stop using references and simply copying, and even somtimes tracing them. Was so scared of it at first, but it's good learning.

Thank-you very much. ^^ That's a big compliment coming from you, as I enjoy and look up to your art. Though, I think you're thinking of a different place to me. I'm in england, so that's the portland in england, just off the south coast. Other portland (oregan, or something like that if I rememeber right?) does sound cool though.

I really need to update my gallery. I've got some much better stuff now, just need to scan it in now I've got the time.

And sorry for the long wait in replying! It somehow got buried in my comment box thing.
